These disorders include but are not limited to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder & Anxiety due to transitions such as divorce, job loss & loss of a loved one.
My ideal client would be one who is willing to put in the effort it takes to achieve a healthy and happy mental status. Not every population I see has this mindset. I believe that by building trust and rapport as well as by the client seeing their own progress, the motivation to reach their personal goals will increase. I have worked with patients as young as 2 and as old as 72 with varying issues. Although I am trained to work with most populations and feel comfortable doing so, my specialty lies with those suffering from anxiety.

I am also the Co-Founder of The OCD Academy, which offers educational OCD-based resources.
My specialty is working with children, adolescents and adults struggling with OCD and anxiety. I previously worked at McLean’s residential OCD facility and Rogers' anxiety/ OCD residential, partial and intensive programs. For anxiety and OCD, the gold-standard therapy is a powerful approach called exposure therapy (ERP). Through this systematic process people learn how to face their fears and no longer be controlled by them, which provides a liberating and confidence building experience. I also use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT).

Clearview Horizons is a group private practice that specializes in working with individuals who are struggling with OCD, anxiety, and/or perfectionism. We believe in a collaborative and active approach focused on helping clients reach their treatment goals. Exposure therapy (ERP) is an empowering tool we use, that helps clients learn how to lean into their worries, instead of trying to control, stop, or avoid them, as the later unintentionally makes the worries stronger. We also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) into the therapy process.

While reaching out for help can feel scary, please know that in therapy you have a lot of control, and I work hard to help you feel safe. My clients tend to prefer the flexibility that being seen by video offers. Often, my clients are living stressful lives, may have a history of trauma, or feel overwhelmed. In particular, I'm experienced in working with people living with anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, people in recovery, and healthcare workers. Everyone is different, and I prefer to shape how we work together based on your individual needs and goals. I see clients virtually in New Hampshire, Texas and Maryland.

I find that unmanaged stress is the root cause of many mental health disorders. My work with clients includes helping them to identify triggers, understand the underlying causes of their stress and learn ways to balance the mind, body and spirit by building a daily self-care routine that includes mental, physical, emotional and spiritual practices. I use a variety of techniques depending on the age and needs of my client. I work primarily with teens, young adults, and adult women. I offer weekly classes and annual self-renewal retreats in addition to individual therapy.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
