The people who like to work with me are facing challenges in their work or personal lives including, self-inflicted stress, relationship or peer conflict, and accepting a loss (or multiple losses). They appreciate a cognitive or thinking approach to their challenges and appreciate learning skills that they can use to reduce their distress. They may have sought treatment elsewhere for anxiety or depression, and it's not unusual that the challenges they face are either going home with them or making their way into their work.

For younger children, I integrate play and creativity (sometimes a little guitar music) to help children appreciate their unique learning styles.
I am a Licensed Psychologist working in Wellesley, MA and Portsmouth, NH and have had the opportunity to serve youth, their families, and adults for nearly thirty years. The expertise and sensitivity I offer focuses on navigating issues and challenges throughout the emerging life-cycle, encouraging clients to flexibly move into new ways of relating to the things one would like to change. Currently, I concentrate on working with children, adolescents, and adults, exploring the developmental challenges, as well as life events that highlight and inform who they are.

I have worked with clients since 2004 in various aspects of cognitive and learning differences.
Life can have a way of tossing us around and undermining our sense of self and belonging. The focus of my practice is people who have ADD/ADHD or symptoms related to ADD/ADHD such as weak Executive Function which can lead to Anxiety and related Depression. These challenges can leave us feeling unmoored, uncertain, unhappy and unfulfilled often struggling to find our way. I offer ADHD Coaching to older Teens, Young Adults and Adults as well as parental support regardless of geographical location. My therapeutic practice is limited to MA, NH and ME. The working environment is one of trust and safety to discover a deeper self-knowing.

I am accepting new clients and have specialized in overwhelm, stress, and anxiety since 2018. If you feel stuck and want to get "unstuck," you're not alone. My clients, both men and women, often feel overwhelmed and seek more joy, energy, and inner peace. You might feel like you are in survival mode, nearing burnout, and not your best self. If you need help but don’t want to delve into your past as with traditional therapy, life coaching could be the answer where we identify goals, create strategies, use practical tools, and implement healthy habits using the science of habit formation and positive psychology to help you thrive.

Change is difficult, but it is possible. I help people identify the changes they want to make and support them in their journey toward their goals. I use a holistic and flexible approach that is designed to meet the needs of the individual. I am direct yet gentle and I challenge clients to trust and listen to themselves. I believe that living in the moment, known as mindfulness, is one of the most helpful tools that we have available to help us to learn how to foster compassion for ourselves and others, quiet our fears, identify what is important, and create the life we want.

They Say "It takes a Village" Do you ever worry that you're just not getting through to your child? Does it seem like no matter what you try, nothing seems to work? Some families don't have a "village" to help them with all the different struggles kids face today. I have worked in many different settings; hospitals, group homes, schools, residential treatment centers, and clinical outpatient offices. I have helped lots of children of all age ranges and their families with similar situations that you're probably facing.

I have immediate availability for adults with daytime availability and a waitlist for minors . To get started, complete our screening form found on our website at www.alliancementalhealth.org. In my practice, I have worked with a wide range of clients, from adults to children, including families. I'm trained in a wide range of therapeutic techniques and styles, but feel most at home using a combination of client-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I believe that at its core, therapy is forming a positive relationship, and then using that relationship to motivate and reinforce healing and change.

There are a lot of therapists out there, so I will make an attempt to summarize my beliefs about therapy in three succinct points. First, therapy is not always easy. Second, it is a therapist's job to challenge you. And third, therapeutic rapport is paramount to establishing effective therapy. If this is what you are looking for, I welcome you to schedule an initial appointment.

"Liminality" refers to the middle stage of change, the threshhold between what was, and what is yet to be. It is when, and where, we are forced by circumstance or choice to leave behind what is familiar, and to journey into a place of uncertainty. It is a normal part of being human. I named my practice Liminal Therapy to honor the process of change and human resilience. My clients are adults (18+) and include people with ADHD and related anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, addictions, and issues related to the stressors of life stages and transitions. Diversity and multicultural wisdom traditions are welcome and appreciated.

We are a children's psychotherapy program specializing in equine facilitated psychotherapy. We believe that learning to do things differently can be hard - we might as well have fun while we are doing it! Most of our clients have tried more traditional office approaches and have found that they didn't work for them. We believe that children should be given space to play and explore. It is through these experiences that children learn about themselves and the world around them.

I love working with clients who are eager to start their healing journey but don't quite know where or how to begin, as well as clients who have tried therapy before and want to continue learning more about themselves. I have particular expertise in supporting neurodivergent individuals, folks who have experienced trauma, and those moving through grief and loss.

In addition, I have for over 20 years as a school psychologist, completing evaluations to identify learning disabilities and to determine how attentional and emotional conditions impact academic performance and social functioning in school.
My role is to clarify diagnoses and guide support in therapy, in school, in the workplace, and in the family. I utilize a variety of assessment tools which provide data regarding diagnosis of psychoeducational, neuropsychological, and other issues impacting individuals’ optimal functioning. This includes evaluation of individuals across the lifespan, from early childhood through all stages of adulthood. As part of the process, I also work closely with clients and family members to ensure a clear understanding of the data and application of the recommendations.

Education and Learning Disabilities Therapists

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?

When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?

It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?

Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?

Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
