Judith Lambert is a Certified EMDR therapist, specializing in the treatment of trauma, PTSD and anxiety. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an extensively researched (evidence-based) therapy that treats the source of one’s current mental health symptoms but differs from traditional talk therapy. It provides an internal healing process where the patient uses visualization, while also engaging in bilateral stimulation (visual eye movements and synchronized audio tones). There is less talk to allow for more internal processing. And it is highly adaptable to today's telehealth modality.

Effective therapy requires a dynamic approach which is unique to every individual. Therapy should not be a "one size fits all" model. Gaining insight and having a deeper understanding of how your biological, sociological and psychological makeup (from birth to present day) has impacted you and how you specifically operate in this world can provide growth and change in many different areas of life. Having the ability to identify where our specific thoughts, beliefs, feelings, emotions, perceptions and patterns stem from and can significantly reduce areas that are impairing your overall quality of everyday life.

I use evidenced based practice tools to address symptoms of mental health disorders including Depression, Anxiety, PTSD & many other experiences that can take one by surprise.
Pregnancy can be one of the most wonderful and stressful times in a woman’s life with enormous changes in family dynamics and relationships. Whether a new parent or care taker, or experiencing the tragedy of interrupted pregnancy or loss, expectations for a new mother can be very high and too often dismissive of the unique stressors involved with making a new human. When unpredicted changes happen, people can feel alone, isolated, and afraid to give voice to their vulnerabilities. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience in working with the perinatal and first responder population. PSI certified.

I specialize in working with mindfulness/emotion regulation to address a history of suicide ideation and self-harm, clients experiencing trauma symptoms such as PTSD and complicated grief, and clients within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Life is hard. It did not come with a manual so we would know what to do when we are struggling. Knowing that there are people out there that can help is what makes therapy so important. I’ve had the pleasure of working with individuals, professionals, and families to address different mental health illnesses for the past five years. I believe that the best kind of therapy is one in which I work with you to identify your goals in life, utilize your strengths, and come up with a plan to make your best self a reality.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
