I am committed to helping people resolve whatever issues they may bring to counseling. Together, we may journey into the past or stay firmly rooted in the present, confronting & transforming old behaviors, memories, or areas of less than optimal functioning. Since no one technique serves all, I offer a multidisciplinary approach. I often employ the expressive arts and an environmental connection with the spiritual, when appropriate and suitable for each of my individual clients. This results in a greater vitality, creativity, satisfaction, self-knowledge, clarity of expression, and holistic healing for most people.

Effective therapy requires a dynamic approach which is unique to every individual. Therapy should not be a "one size fits all" model. Gaining insight and having a deeper understanding of how your biological, sociological and psychological makeup (from birth to present day) has impacted you and how you specifically operate in this world can provide growth and change in many different areas of life. Having the ability to identify where our specific thoughts, beliefs, feelings, emotions, perceptions and patterns stem from and can significantly reduce areas that are impairing your overall quality of everyday life.

Some of my specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions.
You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. -Winnie the Pooh. At times, we all have moments where we underestimate our abilities and strengths. I believe we all possess inner strength, courage, and intelligence beyond what we perceive in ourselves. My goal is to help guide individuals through times of self-doubt or adversity and provide support as they work towards accomplishing their goals in counseling.

I help people work through issues associated with trauma, depression, anxiety and loss.
My greatest hope for people is that they realize investing in one's self is the most precious gift. Entering into therapy can be frightening to some and it takes courage to ask for help. I have a great deal of faith in people and know that anyone who wants to grow, learn and heal from the inside out can do so. My approach is holistic, encompassing the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of self.

Populations I strive to serve are those with chronic pain and illnesses, healthcare professionals, grief (in all forms!), and those experiencing intimate partner difficulties (physical or emotional).
We tend to forget just how connected the mind and body are when it comes to facing life’s challenges. For example, have you ever noticed having physical body pain during a time of significant stress? Or even instances of grief and loss, trauma, relationship concerns, chronic illnesses, burnout, etc. Is your body tensing right now just reading this? (If so, I invite you to take a minute to think about your “happy place” and breathe before reading on!). I am a firm believer that healing is not linear, and that we can use therapy as a time to approach ourselves, emotions, and sensations with an open mind.

These disorders include but are not limited to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder & Anxiety due to transitions such as divorce, job loss & loss of a loved one.
My ideal client would be one who is willing to put in the effort it takes to achieve a healthy and happy mental status. Not every population I see has this mindset. I believe that by building trust and rapport as well as by the client seeing their own progress, the motivation to reach their personal goals will increase. I have worked with patients as young as 2 and as old as 72 with varying issues. Although I am trained to work with most populations and feel comfortable doing so, my specialty lies with those suffering from anxiety.

Accepting new clients! I am an interactive therapist. My years in acute care have given me a passion for treating trauma and particularly reproductive/perinatal mental health. Pregnancy and birth should be a time of joy, but sometimes instead it overturns dreams, disrupts relationships, and brings waves of grief, loss, confusion, and heartbreak. Whether your challenges are new or years in the making you don't want to feel like this any more - nor should you! I am a little irreverent, a lot empathetic, and ready to help you find your best self again.

**Availability may be limited** Most people experience challenges in life and painful moments that can seem difficult to understand and get through. However, I believe with the right supports, we are capable and worthy of healing and resiliency. I knew from an early age I was passionate about helping people find ways to recover from adversity and develop a stronger sense of self, meaning, and happiness. I firmly believe feeling comfortable and understood is essential to the outcome of therapy. I take a compassionate yet direct stance, and strive to act as a coach and active partner in helping individuals reach their goals.

I work with people that are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, grief and loss, self esteem issues and life transitions.
We deal with things when we are ready and heal best when we can subscribe to our own timeline, using the constructs that work best for us without pressure or judgement. Taking that first step to engage in therapy can feel like a daunting, scary task. It is my job to walk by your side in your journey. I aim to create a safe, compassionate environment for you so you feel comfortable exploring those things that you want to change or improve on in your life. Those things, that when processed, will help make you a healthier, stronger, more enlightened individual.

Do you have past trauma that you still carry around despite your best efforts to cope? This trauma could be a single event, years of smaller incidents, a negative self- statement that's been with you forever, or a loss of some kind. Sometimes talk therapy doesn't actually solve the core issue and you continue to have overwhelming feelings when it comes up for you. I use a combination of EMDR and Brainspotting to work on these core issues. This can be done as a stand-alone therapy or as an adjunct to talk therapy.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
