Since taking my first psychology course in high school, I knew that mental health counseling would be my career path. Understanding how trauma impacts the brain and how to unpack and adapt the information leading to a successful, functional life has always fascinated me. Since beginning my career in 2018, I have worked with at-risk youth and their families on many aspects of mental health including coping with trauma, stress, anxiety, problematic sexual behavior, parenting skills and positive communication.

I feel I am a different kind of counselor, because there is not a sense of separation between client and counselor. Clients are often impressed with how quickly times goes in session, they explain, "it's like talking to a good friend", "you make me feel so comfortable and not judged". We still get the work done just as effectively, but prepare to feel more relaxed....our offices are homey and comfortable. We kick our feet up on a coffee table, and chat in a way that allows people to feel more like talking to a friend than a stranger.

I work with adults, especially those looking to heal from complex or childhood trauma, but welcome clients who have a variety of diagnoses and life circumstances they’re seeking support for. As a therapist with Autism and ADHD, I understand firsthand how trauma can be complicated by neurodivergence and why working with a professional who understands this is crucial to effective healing for those who are neurodivergent themselves. I have a special focus on the mind-body connection and offer both psychodynamic and somatic approaches.

Life's challenges are best understood contextually and faced collaboratively. I believe we, as a society, have built a world that does not account for what we need to thrive. In counseling, I provide a warm, supportive, and, at times, challenging environment in service of your growth. If you’re struggling with patterns that are not working for you, I strive to provide a space for us to do the work of healing together. I work with adults of all ages.

I work with adults; aging, depression & anxiety, relationships; trauma, past sexual abuse, challenges of day/day living.
People have taught me they naturally want to move away from emotional pain. I was an EMT for 10 yrs. before transitioning into the field of mental health in 1988. As an EMT I learned how incredibly varied people are when injured physically & emotionally.
