Conveniently located in historic downtown Exeter, I am a clinician who enjoys working with adults going through major life transitions. Sometimes when a relationship ends, career decisions need to be made, or parenting becomes challenging, it helps to have extra support. Often transitions in life bring significant emotional changes and therapy can sort these out and help someone move forward.

My approach is suited to a wide range of relationship concerns: loss of passion/connection, infidelity, communication issues, and a general lack of relational satisfaction.
Relationship concerns? Our relationships with others define us in many ways. Whether its marriage or other intimate relationships, co-workers, friends, or family members, we live in a world of connection with others. I can help you better understand yourself as a relational being and turn that understanding into improved satisfaction with yourself and those you are involved with. After all, isn't it the quality of our relationships that determines the quality of our lives for most of us?

I work best with individuals who prefer a therapist to be interactive and collaborative. I strive to support you emotionally and challenge you to experiment with new ways of thinking and behaving which increase happiness and life satisfaction. The nature of your presenting problem can vary from a recent disruption in a significant relationship to life-long difficulties with anxiety, depression, mood swings or childhood trauma. All these problems can be helped with self understanding and acceptance along with specific behavioral interventions to ease your pain and suffering.

I believe that healing happens in relationship.
I help families and couples recover from generational and childhood trauma. My clients are cycle-breakers who are committed to their growth and looking for support in their journey toward healing. In my practice, I support youth in healing from childhood trauma and rebuilding trust with their caregivers. I guide caregivers in developing their parenting skills and breaking unhelpful generational cycles. I work with romantic partners to improve their communication and intimacy in their relationship.

I work with emerging adults (18-21), adults, and couples, and I specialize in a range of issues, including mood disorders, complex trauma/grief, individuation, existential questioning and alienation, embodiment difficulties, and relationship challenges.
Psychological suffering exists on different levels and manifests in different ways, in psyche, body, interpersonally, socially, both consciously and unconsciously. Thankfully, there are many ways to address psychological struggle, ranging from the exploration of non-conscious intra-psychic and interpersonal dynamics underlying "symptoms" to the exploration of ways that we are alienated from community. This work is especially helpful when the source of our suffering is unclear. My work is social justice-informed and incorporates an understanding of how larger systems impact our lives. Facilitating empowerment is key in my work.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
