I have immediate availability for adults with daytime availability and a waitlist for minors . To get started, complete our screening form found on our website at www.alliancementalhealth.org. In my practice, I have worked with a wide range of clients, from adults to children, including families. I'm trained in a wide range of therapeutic techniques and styles, but feel most at home using a combination of client-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I believe that at its core, therapy is forming a positive relationship, and then using that relationship to motivate and reinforce healing and change.

Gubernatorial Appointment: New Hampshire Board of Examiners of Psychologists Former Chair man of the Board: New Hampshire Board of Examiners of Psychologists Author: First draft of New Rules & Regulations for Psychologists in New Hampshire, 1980 Information for Many: I do not hesitate to speak to my colleagues and those who aspire to become psychologists.
Having a sound education is crucial to successful treatment therapies. This is why I have spent years dedicated to my education. This way I have more to offer you, more tools to help you rebuild your life, more information to help you access your own emotions, and overall, more experience to draw from. Trusted to Lead: It was an honor to be selected by two governors as an expert in my field. As a state appointee, I worked with others to propose new legislation for our field, and I coauthored many documents that are now standard guidelines for psychologists in our state.

To do so will involve increasing your self-awareness, deepening your self-understanding, effectively managing your emotions, and identifying and eliminating factors that are creating obstacles in your life.
If you are not "feeling like yourself", stress is impacting the quality of your life, or you are going through challenges and are looking for help, then perhaps I may be of assistance.

Hello! I enjoy helping people to challenge their problems, to navigate new environments/social or emotional spaces, and to create new understandings of themselves as they evolve. I enjoy working with college-age clients, single people, couples, parents, veterans (I am an Army veteran), people facing life-stage change, and anyone looking to resolve issues from their development. I often find that, regardless of a client’s complaint, there’s a little kid on the inside who needs some resolution or reassurance for them to feel safe and enough so to move on in life. Self-efficacy, the status quo or a relationship...I'm here to help.

In counseling, clients develop the tools to challenge unhealthy thinking patterns, regulate their emotions, manage stress and increase confidence.
I work with people on a variety of issues, typically those struggling with anxiety/depression, stress management, substance use and addiction. There are moments in our lives that feel extra stressful or overwhelming and this is perhaps more true today given these especially challenging times. This is when having strong, healthy coping strategies and the right tools can help us feel back in control with the ability to better manage life again.

Prior to working as a therapist, I was employed in a variety of positions in the hu man services field.
I aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals feel empowered to rediscover their inherent strength and wholeness. Often these fundamental aspects of ourselves can be blocked from our awareness by distortions of thought, faulty beliefs, traumas, or accumulated experiences, so I support my clients to identify these blocks and to learn let them go. As this process unfolds, we may work toward developing self-compassion, mindfulness, and healthy and fulfilling behavioral changes. My approach is a combination of person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and expressive arts therapy.

Many of my colleagues and clients describe me as having a calm and compassionate presence, and that is the foundation of my work with you.
Feeling anxious? You are not alone. Now more than ever it can be easy to end up feeling overwhelmed, uncertain and depressed. The pressures of relationships, school or work, family, friends all seem to pile up - and then taking care of yourself ends up on the bottom of the priority list. At Movemental Wellbeing, my approach is to help create a calm space where the anxiety and overwhelm don't have such a profound hold on you. One of the best strategies I know to do this is to find opportunities to go outside with clients, to go for a walk, and to feel connected and understood.

Couples and Relationship Counseling. ON-LINE VIDEO COUNSELING AVAILABLE. All of us enter marriage or a committed relationship with a dream of spending a whole life together. Many couples find themselves struggling at some point- experiencing dissatisfaction and emotional pain. Some want to work it out but don't know how. Others have reached the point where both partners want to end the marriage/relationship. Still others are ambivalent, where one spouse is “leaning in” and the other “leaning out.” Some couples generally do well together but long to deepen their connection.

I have been working to help those in their journey of recovery for the past nine years and have witnessed many individuals become empowered and take back control of their lives after becoming hindered by their addiction.
I am honored to be able to provide clinical services to those suffering from Substance Use Disorders. My ideal in practice is to form a strong, collaborative, therapeutic relationship with my clients. My style is empathetic, compassionate, and direct. I believe that by exploring thoughts, emotions, and maladaptive behavior patterns, we can become more insightful and understanding of ourselves. Through this vulnerable process we are able to create life-long change that will increase self esteem and the ability to form close interpersonal relationships with those we care about.

Wellness is more than an absence of problems; it is an experience of living life to the fullest. Recognizing that the resources for healing and negotiating interpersonal conflicts already exist within us, I rely on a sensitive understanding of each individual and the unique abilities they can further develop to achieve their goals.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
