I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in depression, anxiety, relationship issues and eating disorders. I have worked in private practice for years and as a consulting therapist with the Eating Disorder Resource Center. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work from Columbia University and advanced study in psychoanalysis from the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. This training has taught me to appreciate the formative role our early life and family experience plays in our emotional and psychological development. I enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves and their emotional struggles and are willing to look more closely at what motivates them.

My approach is gently guiding you through the emotions and working with you to identify their source, often rooted in family-of-origin experiences.
Being vulnerable and having boundaries with your partner is cathartic. Always having a mask on or your walls up is exhausting. I can help you figure out the map to move past the patterns and behaviors that no longer serve your growth. By safely addressing and healing the disconnects in your relationship, you can open again to each other and to a fuller life to build a healthy, nurturing connection and a brighter future for yourself!

I also provide individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, family conflict, relationship difficulties, separation/individuation issues, and identity crises.
Are you considering couples therapy? Do you think you and your partner could benefit from some help understanding each other? Does it feel difficult to find someone who you can trust with your personal story? I would like to help you. I recently completed the Couples Therapy Program at the William Alanson White Institute, and I'm currently training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for couples. I have a limited number of low-fee/sliding scale spots available for couples wanting to work on their relationship.

In my free time I enjoy having fun with family and friends, running, and exploring local parks and trails.
Hello and welcome! If you’ve landed here, you’ve taken the first step in seeking support for yourself or a loved one, and that effort should be celebrated. The idea of sharing details about personal lives with a stranger can be scary. Many people make the choice to connect with a trained therapist and end up finding value in having an unbiased person outside of their friend/ family group listen, validate, and share helpful strategies. I have been practicing as a licensed therapist since 2016 and I find great meaning in being able to partner with people as they move closer towards healing and growth.

If you are experiencing emotional pain or confusion in your personal, family, or work relationships, I am here to help you better understand human behavior, your relationship patterns and ultimately yourself.
I am a therapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. My approach is collaborative as therapy is a unique relationship. We begin with identifying where you are now while focusing on where you want to be. I use many different techniques in discovering the most effective path for you. For example, cognitive-behavioral therapy is very effective with issues such as anxiety and depression, while using an attachment-based lens can improve low self-esteem and relationship issues. If you are looking for an interactive therapist and are ready and willing to do the work, I will help you along your journey!

I am a New York licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Hypnotherapist. I am also an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I have over 25 years of experience counseling people. I have experience with, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, autism, maternal mental health, substance abuse, divorce proceedings, couples abuse, and people in the LGBTQ+ community. With all the counseling I have done I became aware of the limitations of “talk therapy” when I worked with veterans. Hypnotherapy is another way of helping people with trauma. anxiety, depression, smoking, and eating disorders.

When faced with a crisis, impasse, or other stressful life situation, we all intuitively seek comfort, support and guidance. We can usually receive this from friends, spouses, and family, and while it initially makes us feel better, it often isn't sufficient to resolve what challenges us or prevent it from reoccurring. Real and lasting changes are possible, but they require trying new approaches to old problems.

My clients often describe me as down to earth and approachable, perhaps because I treat my clients the way I would hope a family member in need would be.
Reaching out for help can be scary. I aim to make that process a smooth one with support and encouragement. I am a Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience as a therapist. My clients come to me with a wide range of concerns, such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, illness in themselves or a loved one, and much more. What I see time and time again that they have in common is a feeling of powerlessness. Whether it be over their symptoms, their family members, relationships and even themselves. I help them to understand themselves and their circumstances more fully.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
