Life can manifest itself in negative ways after experiencing trauma. Through an empathetic and compassionate approach, we can explore the best ways to help you work through life’s challenges. Whether its’ anxiety, depression, or the inability to focus on your goals, together we can develop skills to help you get back on track with the life you envision for yourself. Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavioral analysis (ABA), mindfulness and motivational interviewing, we can find empowering ways to help you overcome some of life’s most common hurdles.

Does your past haunt the person you want to be in your relationships? Do you often feel anxiety takes over your relationships? Do you find you are unable to communicate, as you always try to find the "right thing to say"?

Down bad? Feeling wonky? Lets talk about it. I help clients with a variety of issues by tailoring my therapeutic approach to their unique needs and goals. I want everyone I work with to realize their full potential by restructuring maladaptive thought patterns that lead to distress and poor functioning. I hope to give my clients the space to process their thoughts and emotions, and understand the ways in which their behavior and subconscious beliefs about themselves and the world around them play into false narratives that ultimately keep themselves down. I strive to help my clients to learn to love themselves without condition.

As I think about my journey as an artist - evolving toward art therapy and the clinical world, honing in on my definitions and applications, while recognizing art’s interventions in my own life - I realize these ideals are why I started a therapeutic private practice many years ago. Any creative process can be healing and the possibilities are infinite when blending the process with deep discussion, clinical based talk therapies, spiritual connection, life coaching and vocational services. I have made it my life's mission in sharing these tools to facilitate personal growth, positive change and reach one’s ultimate potential.

I believe that engaging in a therapeutic process, essentially sharing your internal world—requires feeling understood, safe, and connected. My goal is to build a trusting dynamic with you, where you feel safe enough to explore and express all parts of yourself. I recognize you as the expert of your own experience, and also understand that we, as human beings, often confront our unconsciousness, which can manifest as pain- an area ripe for growth. Drawing primarily from psychodynamic theory, I prioritize self-reflection and insight into both conscious and unconscious processes.

I work with individuals and couples and I specialize in working with stepfamilies. Most of my individual clients are living very productive lives, but struggling with things like anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Often times, clients have feelings of low self worth or a harsh inner critic. I strive to create a safe, warm space without judgement where we can understand the different aspects of who you are. Together we'll explore why you may be feeling stuck, and help you gain clarity to move forward.

I see people individually, in couples, or within a group setting. My focus of treatment is goal oriented, working with people who either have trouble setting goals, completing goals, or moving on to desirable changes in their lives and life styles.

For over two decades it has been my extraordinary privilege to hear the life stories of individuals who have engaged with me in the work of therapy. These unique stories, whether marked by suffering and despair, joy and happiness, were always about resilience and survival, and have taught me well the therapeutic value of narrative. This kind of listening is a partnership, a collaborative effort that is reflected in my clinical approach. I tell my social work students at Columbia that the most critically important tool they have is their ears.

There are over eight million people living in New York City today; however, many of them feel isolated from family and friends. Others find themselves in a reoccurring pattern of failed relationships. The question often asked is "why?" Let's work together in answering this question. Perhaps during the journey answers to other questions will present themselves. Not a problem. The process of self-discovery entails learning new things about yourself. I can help you address the lack of satisfaction in your interpersonal relationships, commitment issues, marital conflicts, and religious alienation.
