I am experienced working with clients who struggle with, recurrent depressive thoughts or feelings, frequent anxiety, panic attacks, traumatic past experiences, emotional instability, feelings of overwhelming stress, and difficulty communicating with others. I do work with adults as well as children, and families, focusing on enhancing emotional awareness, learning parenting tools, and implementing healthy relationship boundaries. Life has a way of accumulating and overwhelming us, counseling is the process of gaining awareness and finding a healthy life balance once again.

My ideal client is someone who may not understand how their past (trauma) or individual issues (diagnosis, etc.) may be impacting their daily lives. Someone who is still learning to leverage their strengths to overcome life challenges. They may struggle to cope, to have healthy interpersonal relationships, to effectively manage their emotions. Their primary goal would be to understand what they are feeling or have experienced & why that matters in the context of their life. While they do not yet have the language or knowledge to facilitate this, they're open to receiving it visa vie therapy.

If you have ever sought a psychotherapy that was less about symptoms and labels, and more about overcoming, problem-solving, and achieving life satisfaction, welcome. If you've ever felt like an alien on Earth, completely out of context, and that you needed to find your own real self again, we have that in common. I am a trained forensic psychological evaluator who has written many books on arts of healing and psychotherapy. I have been a holistic practitioner, and I guess the headline is I am a musical artist (Shockocracy). I am accepting a small number of artistic psychotherapy patients at this time, and I have staff available.

I enjoy working with young adults to seniors who are cautious about seeking help, feel coaxed into counseling, or have had bad experiences in the past. People have told me that I have a unique way of connecting with others and that they immediately sense my empathy and non-judgmental approach to all my interactions. My areas of special interest are anxiety, depression, grief and loss, adjusting to chronic illness, life transitions, PTSD, and general well-being. I work in a trauma-informed manner. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally and work in a culturally sensitive manner.

The goal of therapy is not only to resolve a conflict or find an answer but to make a connection. I believe that the client drives the car of therapy while the therapist is in the passenger seat ensuring the ride is comfortable, the music is right and hazards or incomplete bridges are avoided. The brain and body should be aligned; therapy does just that. There does not always need to be a problem to go to therapy, the same way a car can use an oil change or detail before a long drive. It is hard to deal with emotional issues on your own, but more difficult to address and face them in therapy or even ask for help.

Are you an adult with symptoms of anxiety, performance issues, depression, stress-related physical problems, and/or obsessive compulsive symptoms? These all involve a complicated intertwining of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and physiological components. Are you looking for someone who can find ways to systematically approach each of these, consistent with your personality, upbringing, environment, and life's circumstances? Are you looking to learn something from each session, and feel confident your problems are better understood and have improved?

Sometimes you do everything you're supposed to do and things go right. Sometimes you do everything you're not supposed to do and everything goes right. But what happens when almost nothing goes right? It's disheartening, disorienting, and undermines confidence. What can follow is anxiety (fear and threat come with disorientation), depression (apathy and hopelessness come with being ineffective). You may feel the world is conspiring against you. Often self-deprecation seeps in. You beat yourself up as you feel you've let yourself down, a self-betrayal informing you that you must be defective and inadequate.
