I specialize in working with teenagers (high school age & up) & adults. My goal is to help those who come to me successfully navigate the life challenges we all deal with. Especially those challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, sexual orientation & gender identity issues, and those in the first responder professions. I've spent most of the last decade working with children of all ages and their parents tackling concerns and frustrations related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, ADHD, depression and anxiety symptoms. I enjoy helping families better understand each other through increased communication, clear agreements, and understanding each other's love languages and learning styles.

I understand that mental health needs come from a wide variety of life experiences. I aim to offer a safe space where individuals can explore issues in their life through an Existential lens to help them find clarification and awareness. I work with clients to identify behaviors that they have learned as a way to adapt to their life experiences and how those behaviors impact the type of life that they desire to have. I aim to help clients rebuild a sense of hope within themselves that a different experience of life is possible.

Lee Clausen, M.S., P.L.M.H.P., P.L.A.D.C. C.P.S.W.S., began his career in mental health as a Certified Peer Support & Wellness Specialist and he still believes in the principals espoused by Shery Mead in differentiating between learning versus helping, relationships versus individuals, and hope versus fear. Ultimately, mental health support is about understanding the perspective of another; a shared meaning between client and counselor emerges that allows the client to understand the value and meaning in their present relationships and how those relationships allow a new set of possibilities to emerge through a sense of community.

My ideal client wants (and possibly needs) help! Much like all of us. We all have something to work on (even this guy!). I'm not the perfect therapist for everyone, and I promote client autonomy and self-advocacy. I have experience with an assortment of issues (been working at an inpatient psych facility for two years). I'm here to meet you where you're at and provide no judgement at all. Sometimes In our co-journey of life, the issues and problems we face and try to resolve can be very difficult and our usual methods of coping aren't working. Asking for help is okay. With some added insight and guidance from a counselor, you can often get back into life with additional coping skills and renewed energy. For over thirty years I have been able to help individuals, couples and families find their way through these transitions in life. I base my therapy on the belief that all people are worthy and deserving of a fulfilling life.

I completed my master's internship at UNMC Counseling and Psychological Services where I had the opportunity to work with graduate and medical students. During this time, I started integrating neuroscience into treatment planning. I have found this evidence-based approach resonates well with my clients because they can better understand the way that they respond to their environment and how their internal processing frames the way in which they view the world.

I am currently using teletherapy, video sessions remotely with clients.
