Drawing from modalities like CBT, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness, Amanda creates a safe and restorative space for her clients to explore their strengths and overcome challenges.
Sometimes life is hard. It seems like people are feeling the pressures of life more and more from every different area of their life. In therapy with me, we can talk through and process stressors. What you can expect from me is a caring, patient, sensitive, sometimes humorous, dedicated listener. We will work together to tailor your care and needs. Sometimes people just need to talk and be heard. Other times, people need tools, skills, tasks to practice improving their life that are realistic and manageable. As of Summer 2024, I have a few opening for telehealth only.

To name a few, I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and the ARC Model.
Are you on a journey to discover your identity through self-exploration? Are you having a hard time adjusting to a new season of your life? Do you feel sad, anxious, or angry and have difficulty identifying why? Are you having difficulty navigating your relationships (e.g., friendships, intimate partnerships, or familial relationships)? You want to live a life where you are operating at your fullest potential. You want to remain who you genuinely are, even when faced with adversity. You want to work on identifying stressors and regulating your emotions.

I'm nervous system informed and use IFS & EMDR.
We all need to be seen and understood, and it’s my goal to make therapy a space where that happens. I approach therapy from a place of getting that it's important to make sense of your experiences, know & feel that you are valid, & have a way to move forward feeling grounded in your authentic truth. I often work with people who have experienced trauma in relationships, a lack of emotional support in childhood, religious trauma, and marginalization. I can help with if you've been struggling to make changes you want in your life and relationships, have been overwhelmed by emotions, or don't ever know what you're even feeling.

Life can be A LOT sometimes, causing us to feel anxious, depressed, lose our sense of self and affect our ability to have and maintain healthy relationships. We all need someone who's not in the middle of it with us, to talk through these feelings and concerns. I believe everyone deserves this type of experience and support. I believe things, and people, can change with the right support and tools!

As the parent of a child/teen that struggles with their wounded selves, you have tried everything. The exhaustive interventions that you have tried are going nowhere fast. Throwing in the towel is all that you have left. Your marriage is more daunting than it is invigorating and you keep hitting a wall with connecting to one another. Depression has you stuck in quicksand and the struggle is consuming you. Anxiety has its grip on you and it is controlling your life. You find yourself asking what more can you do? You feel all alone in your struggles and are having more moments of frustration than joy. Asking for help is hard.

We all bear marks and scars from life’s hardships and trials. Comparison of pain can frequently keep us from reaching out for help because “someone has it worse.” I am here to help you walk through whatever pain has brought you to where you currently are, grief, anxiety, depression, or transitions in life. Taking the step to seek counseling is incredibly brave; it is stepping out and saying you are more than what may seem insurmountable right now.

Have you spent years in therapy and feel like something vital is still missing? Are you eager to explore your true self more deeply? Maybe you're aware (to a fault) of patterns like shame and self-doubt but you are struggling to create lasting change. If you believe in living a more fulfilling life with greater presence and trust, but you're unsure how to achieve it, I could be a good fit for you.

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
