My approach is based on holistic wellbeing, processing, and finding hope, with an emphasis on existential principles, strengths-focused techniques, and trauma informed care.
When life gets difficult, uncomfortable or confusing, oftentimes we can rely on our wits and resilience alone. Other times, however, we can use a little support from others. With a background in crisis intervention, severe and persistent symptom management, mindfulness, and Kundalini yoga, I will collaborate with you as you develop your goals, life dreams, and self-care plans while clearing out the thoughts and habits you are finding to be unhelpful.

I work from a skills based perspective using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt and Existential Therapy.
I believe in supporting my clients through all of life’s real and perceived challenges. Everyone needs someone to talk to- someone to help process through emotions, thoughts, experiences and events. A life worth living looks different from one person to the next and I enjoy helping people navigate this discovery. I help clients look at where they are, where they truly desire to be, and help search their soul to determine what they are willing to do to achieve their life worth living.

Psychotherapy accelerates a person's effectiveness and healthy functioning in the world s/he lives in. At the foundation of this process is genuine trust and respect, one that allows opportunities for exploring personal resources and strengths, habits of behavior, internal conflicts, disruptions of self-concept or attachment, familiar ways of thinking and relating, or to find ways to continue on the path chosen. Psychotherapy creates new distinctions about behavior and world view so as to act and view your self, relationships, and circumstances in new ways. Dr. Stormberg's approach is what Carl Jung described as "a practical psychotherapy to fit people for life."

Asking for help is not easy for many of us. Reaching out to a therapist can feel like admitting defeat. I believe, however, that it can be one of the bravest things you can do! Whatever difficulty you are walking through, whether it be grief, trauma, shame or guilt you are worth the time and effort of walking towards peace and healing. If you feel weighed down with life and would like help processing and moving forward, I would like to help.

During times of stress and uncertainty, it may be difficult to get through the day, go to work, or be present with your loved ones. On top of that, these uncertain times can trigger anxiety, overwhelming emotions, and cause us to feel "stuck". Therapy provides an opportunity to find hope for the future, find joy and happiness, stability, and a sense of meaning or purpose in a rapidly changing world. I believe that everyone deserves a nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empathetic therapeutic experience.

Personally & professionally, I believe: 1) Attention is our most precious resource. 2) Most of us use only a fraction of our full potential. 3) Our perceived weaknesses are closely related to our greatest strengths. 4) Through intentional daily practice, we can improve the quality of our experiences. 5) Over time we can heal from trauma, unlearn harmful habits, and create meaning from loss. The treatment protocol I use integrates evidence-based practices - e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based interventions - tested & proven by behavioral health experts over thousands of years.

How does existential therapy work?
Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.
Is existential therapy evidence-based?
Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.
How long does existential therapy last?
The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.
Is existential therapy effective?
According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
