Some of the counseling models that guide my approach are Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational interviewing (MI), Positive psychology, Integrative Medicine, and Mindfulness based approaches.
Therapy or Counseling is defined as "helping people live happier, healthier, and more productive lives". As a therapist I apply research-based techniques to help my clients develop more effective habits and behaviors. I approach counseling as a collaborative exercise; where we work together to resolve your goals.

I address a variety of issues, including trauma, through traditional talk therapy in the form of CBT and DBT.
What does it mean to "take care of your mental health?" It's easier to tell when you aren't taking care of it: chronic stress, exhaustion, worry, and panic are all signs your mental health is suffering. If untreated, you could start having nightmares, poor health, trouble in your relationships, and difficulty staying on top of work or school. There are many things that can lead to mental health struggles, like a too-busy schedule, a chronic illness or someone else's troubles, a major life transition, or a death of someone close to you. Or, it could seem to come out of the blue, caused by nothing at all.

Depression, anxiety, a persistent fear of rejection, or feeling alone and hopeless can impact all aspects of life; including relationships, marriages, jobs/careers, and children. Together we will use your strengths and wisdom to find solutions, relief, and the enjoyment you deserve.

I am "intensively" trained in DBT (coping skills designed to improve feelings, behaviors, and relationships).
"Moody", "Overly Sensitive", or "Needy"- Are these words people use to describe you, or maybe how you describe yourself? Do you feel like your life is one stressful event after another? Does it seem like no one 'gets' you or people have given up on you? If you are looking for a therapist who wants to help you understand your feelings and improve your relationships, I might be the one for you.

I typically use one or a combination of the following theories and techniques throughout the counseling process: EFT, ACT, DBT, NET, and mindfulness.
Hi! My name is Angie Hartley. My hope in the counseling process is to cultivate a place where individuals feel genuinely heard and experience safety and acceptance that helps them walk through difficult emotions and circumstances while discovering healthier ways of regulating emotions, connecting with others, and being in the “here and now.”

Is life overwhelming? Do you feel depressed, anxious, or chronically stressed? As a therapist, I'm passionate about offering support and teaching clients effective and innovative strategies for overall wellness, using integrative and holistic interventions. Therapy is about understanding and accepting ourselves, challenging old belief systems, letting go of what we no longer need, and learning to be present in our lives. Through your therapeutic work, you can begin to heal past hurts and traumas, reducing overall distress and suffering. Perhaps even, the adversity you’ve faced will transform into the peace and resilience you desire.

Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
