I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and and am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Currenty Not Accepting New Clients- Whether I am working with a young child or an adult, I believe that the healing process is a journey of returning home to the authentic self with the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle supporting the exploration. My name is Aimee and I hope to walk along with you on this journey, offering compassion, co-regulation, and some education along the way. When we can lean into the understanding of how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have come to be, we may also begin to explore where we may have gotten stuck and how we can have a renewed access to the wisdom and assets that our bodies possess.

Are you experiencing feelings of anxiety, low mood, or would like someone to process your feelings with? Reaching out and asking for help can be difficult. I want to make that first step easier for you by providing nonjudgmental listening and support in a safe environment. Therapy should be an avenue for you to explore your strengths and learn more about yourself. You are the expert in your own life and I will collaborate with you to seek tools and strategies to cope. I believe in empowering those I work with to express their goals for treatment and explore how I can best support that individual as their therapist.

My ideal client is someone seeking deeper self-discovery, having realized their dissatisfaction with their current life despite outward achievements. They're ready to explore the root causes of their challenges, which may manifest as depression, anxiety, or PTSD. This individual is committed to embarking on a journey of self-mastery, willing to face uncertainty and delve into past experiences, including childhood neglect, abuse, or generational trauma. They're eager to build the foundation they never received, using therapy as a tool to uncover their true essence and align their lives with their authentic values.

I enjoy Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame.
I am accepting new clients that are looking for Intensive EMDR. Why choose intensive work? The traditional model of weekly psychotherapy is shifting to meet your needs. Now more than ever, we need flexibility in how we get support. EMDR intensives are personalized treatment plans that allow you to skip the waitlist by giving you faster access to select spots, and are designed to support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals. Perhaps, you need more efficient support as the busy parent with kids doing virtual learning and/or the working professional who has even more on their plate since the pandemic.

In my clinical work I focus primarily on trauma processing, self-esteem issues, including body image concerns, self-worth development, and self-exploration, as well as disordered eating, depressive disorders, and anxiety disorders.
I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and grow no matter the circumstance. My therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration, resiliency, and compassion. I believe healing is a nonlinear process and unique to each individual. I am passionate about facilitating a safe environment in which individuals can explore their own path of self-discovery. I use experiential, expressive arts, body-based, cognitive, and behavioral approaches in my work with clients. I work with teens and adults who have experienced trauma, loss, and eating disorders.

I have also been trained in EMDR to treat and relieve PTSD, acute stress, anxiety and depression symptoms resulting from life experiences.
Creating change in your life can be hard. Sometimes it might feel as if situations in your life are so overwhelming that you don't even know where to begin. I am honored to assist you in navigating those changes and help you feel that you are not alone in meeting the challenges in front of you. It's important to feel in control of ourselves and, to some extent, the world around us. In an ideal therapeutic relationship, I believe that the client determines the direction and success of treatment. Let's put it this way, if we were to go on a journey together - you would be the driver while I would act as the "GPS" so to speak!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
