EMDR is a powerful modality that is the gold standard in treating PTSD, and is helpful with anxiety, depression, and OCD.
Do you have a traumatic past that you'd like to break free from? Perhaps you are finding it hard to forget about the trauma, or continue to be triggered by a past situation, such as abuse, medical trauma, or a traumatic birth? Even 'little t' traumas, such as divorce or infidelity can have long lasting effects. Or perhaps you have limiting beliefs about yourself that keep you stuck, such as 'I'm not good enough' or 'I have to be perfect'? If so, an EMDR Intensive could be a great fit for you. Many of my clients with these issues have felt relief after just one 4 hour session!

I work with adults navigating trauma, depression, PMDD, stress, grief, anxiety, CPTSD, and PTSD using IFS (Internal Family Systems), attachment work, and a deep understanding of trauma and neglect.
Life is simply too much to navigate alone. We all need the support of trusted others to witness and process the changing tides of our lives with us. You may find yourself needing a lot of reassurance, not trusting yourself, having trouble making decisions, or feeling disconnected from your loved ones. You might feel confused by your emotional responses to things. Thoughts like "Am I overreacting?" or "Why can't I seem to control my emotions?" often leave you feeling lonely or defective. You have no trouble thinking and analyzing, but it doesn't seem to be making you feel any better.

I specialize in trauma disorders, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD, codependency and relationship issues.
All talked out? Many of my clients have decades of experience in therapy, yet have found little relief from their anxiety or depression. I work with adults and couples who are ready to go deeper into the unconscious mind to heal old wounds, change outdated patterns and cultivate a compassionate relationship with themselves. My clients have great insight, and are ready to finally embody and feel what they cognitively know to be true: “I am safe. I am loveable. I am enough.” Deeply knowing yourself is the greatest gift you can give your heart. Learning to regulate your nervous system is a close second.

Lets explore your life experience in a new and exciting way. I see suffering as an opportunity to break free from old patterns, habits, and ways of thinking that are not working for you anymore. It's a call from deep inside saying, "something needs to shift". This shift can come from exploring a relationship to a substance that you are using, and the pain, anxiety, depression, or a general sense of not loving your life that may come with it. Your unique journey is here right now, and experiencing it from a nonjudgmental perspective can be a vital ingredient to moving past whatever is holding you back from living your best life.

You're asking yourself "why can't I stop thinking about my ex?" or "who the heck am I without my partner?" Or maybe you canNOT focus at work and get easily distracted and overwhelmed by most things. Perhaps you feel like you have lost control of your thoughts or emotions. You find yourself thinking about the breakup/how lonely you feel/how disorganized you are/that big decision you need to make...and you’re judging yourself for all of it. Sometimes you even judge your judgment, wondering how you’re ever going to break out of this cycle of acting out of your overwhelming emotions or spinning thoughts.

Life is full of a good deal of various types of suffering, much of which strikes in unexpected and unwanted moments. Kurt Vonnegut wrote that "we are here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is," and I pledge to work with my clients to shift our relationship with our own suffering. I want to both reduce the heaviness of one's inner problematic experiences and to create more distance and balance with how they are experienced.

In addition to relationship issues, I treat children, teens, and adults struggling with Domestic Violence, Death & Dying (self or other), Trauma, Parenting and Sexuality (particularly trauma, compulsivity or addiction).
My primary focus in therapy – with individuals, couples or families – is to support and facilitate my clients in their journey to a deeper understanding and awareness of themselves. This goal is best achieved, I believe, by encouraging self-acceptance and insight, and by forming with each client a safe and nonjudgmental relationship. It is within this alliance that, together, we can explore, understand, and begin to gently dismantle the obstacles and unproductive patterns of coping that, although once useful in dealing with painful life events or childhood relationships, may now be keeping them from enjoying a more fulfilling life.

Hello! I have over 25 years of experience & specialize in anxiety, trauma, chronic stress, self-regulation and recovery. I value in depth assessment which informs our process. Unlike some types of supportive counseling, I offer education about how life experiences are hardwired into our brains & how this impacts all aspects of life and our relationships. I also focus on teaching skills to transform anxiety and stress into resilience, calm, and increased joy. To do that, I use mindfulness, somatic/body-based skills, psychedelic & ketamine - assisted psychotherapy, RRT, and nature-based connection.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
