I help couples make sense of how they are getting stuck in conflict. I help them organize their experience, and clarify the good emotional reasons for why they are stuck. Together we identify unmet needs and longings, and work to develop understanding and responsiveness. With greater closeness and trust, partners are able to find solutions to life’s challenges, heal from relationship wounds, and experience love again. I have experience helping couples recover from infidelity/betrayals. When counseling individual clients, I work from a trauma-informed, attachment lens. I help individuals clarify what they need to heal and grow.

My ideal client is a young person eager to explore personal issues in a safe and confidential setting with a seasoned counselor. I was diagnosed with ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and various others as a young person. None of those labels mattered though, because when I found someone who cared and listened everything changed. We all have the ability to overcome the challenges in our lives and gain personal strength through the therapy process. My goal is to individualize my services and guide you in finding answers and direction in life.

I believe that every person has the ability to grow, heal and change. As a counselor, I provide a space of nonjudgmental acceptance and authenticity which invites clients to show up exactly as they are and to be valued and supported in all aspects of their identity. I aim to partner with and empower my clients, utilizing the strengths and skills they already possess, to work toward their goals for healing and growth. My counseling orientation is grounded in a family systems approach, though I also draw significantly from attachment theory and person-centered counseling.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, stress, grief/loss, mood disorders, relational issues, substance abuse and trauma. I’m a Certified EMDR Therapist. I also utilize mindfulness and self-compassion to support others on their journey of healing so they can live a "good life". I’m passionate about supporting all people on their journey. I first received my certification in Health and Human Services in 1989 and completed undergraduate and graduate studies in 1995 earning a master’s degree in social work from San Diego State University.
