With TF-CBT, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and other methods, I help you target goals that are important to you, such as: reducing challenging behaviors, building healthier connections, and improving family dynamics.
The exhausting power battles, behavioral issues, and failed attempts to connect are starting to wear you thin. Teachers, coaches, even other relatives have offered help or advice, but too often it doesn't work, or misses the mark entirely. Things are feeling out of control, and your whole family is hurting. You're looking for some peace, a plan, a way forward, and the ability to feel grounded again. You want nothing more than to form healthy connections with your child, see them heal, and be equipped for the future, but things feel really stuck.

I believe in the infinite possibilities of each human being, I believe in the sacredness of each life, I believe in new beginnings, in the dreams and desires that we all carry to be loved and respected for who we are. I believe that the past does not determine our lives and that crises and conflicts are sources of transformation. These are some of the beliefs that guide my therapeutic practice. The strengthening of couple relationships, parenting skills, communication issues and conflict management have been areas in which I have worked personally and in groups in various cultural environments.

When we as parents feel our best, we parent more lovingly and effectively.
Now Accepting New Clients! You’re done white-knuckling your way through this. The anxiety, the constant decision making, the toxic relationships that you've successfully managed for years are turning you into someone you don't like. You feel your life spinning off axis. You don’t want to lead just another instagram-perfect life. You want your insides to match your outside. I help curious parents who are breaking generational cycles so they can parent more gently, set boundaries more intentionally and create families and communities that are equitable, thoughtful and whole.

I have worked primarily with children, adolescent and their families; working on behavioral issues, emotional regulation, trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting, and family dynamics.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand and build your own story. My goal is to help you figure out the person, the parent, the partner, whoever it is you want to be, and to help you develop skills to cope with the hardships that come with being that person. Being human comes with its own set of challenges and we each face different struggles based on our experiences in the world; whether that is anxiety, depression, substance use or difficulty with body image or identity. I enjoy practicing from a creative approach, and I don’t mind stepping outside of the traditional box.

As a certified Brainspotting therapist, I work with adults on various issues such as racial trauma, intergenerational trauma, grief & loss, pregnancy/ parenting, anxiety, and depression.
You've overcome trauma in your life. You are successful, but new changes are bringing up emotions that are difficult to manage. You are ready for relief from these emotions. You're ready to let go of the past and start this new chapter with ease, but the people who care about you want to help, but don't know how. You are ready to rewrite your story and be confident in yourself and your relationships.

Some common issues I work with include relationship stress, communication skills, parenting, family conflict, mood disorders (depression, anxiety, etc.
I believe that every person has the ability to grow, heal and change. As a counselor, I provide a space of nonjudgmental acceptance and authenticity which invites clients to show up exactly as they are and to be valued and supported in all aspects of their identity. I aim to partner with and empower my clients, utilizing the strengths and skills they already possess, to work toward their goals for healing and growth. My counseling orientation is grounded in a family systems approach, though I also draw significantly from attachment theory and person-centered counseling.

Our work is dedicated to helping ALL people develop healthy, satisfying, productive, and meaningful lives. Though it can be difficult to make the decision to begin therapy, we have found that those who have sought help and take responsibility for their emotional heath and relationships have achieved remarkable results. People come to us for a variety of reasons: they may be in transition, experiencing work stress, grieving a loss, struggling with religious or family ideals which no longer suit them, a new parent experiencing anxiety. Some have begun to feel daily life is stagnant, seeking more direction and purpose in their lives.

Or perhaps you're a parent who needs guidance with your struggling gifted child.
Are you a successful, gifted adult who has all the boxes checked yet still wonders, "Is there more to life?" Have you been feeling like you need to make a change but you're not quite sure where or how to start? It can be hard to trust that there's someone out there who could really "get" you and help you create the dream life you truly desire. Flourishing is the concept of living life with purpose, meaning, connection, and vibrant well-being. You may not be struggling with mental illness, per se, but you may be languishing. And that can feel particularly frustrating because it just feels like living in the "blah" zone day after day.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
