I approach counseling from person-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy lenses, while also drawing from a variety of evidence based therapeutic techniques including dialectical-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and relational therapy.
I believe that every person is the expert of their own world. My job is to listen with empathy and without judgment in order to gain a full understanding of the individual and their presenting problems, and create a fitting treatment plan. My goal is to create a safe space where clients feel heard and understood, and to build a therapeutic relationship in which we can work together to meet clients' therapeutic goals. I encourage clients to reflect on their ways of relating to the world to help them gain insight into how their thoughts, attitudes, emotions and behaviors affect themselves and others.

I have been licensed in the state of NC for over 13 years and have worked in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings I am trained and proficient in multiple research based modalities of treatment including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Take the time to invest in yourself through therapy. For well over a decade, I have been honored to work with people from all walks of life. I have found that growth comes when we slow down and invest time in exploring our own beliefs, relationships, and behaviors. Sometimes we need a guide to help make sense of that process: a therapist. For over a decade I have honed my skills in working with grief, trauma, life transitions, mood disorders, anxiety, disordered eating, obesity, caregiver stress, women's issues, and more. While I am trained and certified in various modalities, treatment is tailored to each patient's goals

My treatment philosophy is primarily based in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy.
Maybe you have waited a long time to seek help and suffered in silence. Perhaps you've become accustomed to this discomfort or a pain. Or maybe you desire change through seeking understanding and want a greater sense of wellbeing. Therapy may help you with this process of personal growth and healing. Whether you have a crisis, traumatic experience, significant life challenge or are wanting to experience greater fulfillment therapy may be for you.

Congratulations, you have officially taken the first step in prioritizing your mental health! Therapy can be a vulnerable place, but it is in your vulnerability that you find the biggest strengths within yourself! I aim to offer you a safe space while we work together to improve your mental well-being through processing your emotions, thoughts, and feelings. People often feel that they do not have a place to go that allows them to be completely vulnerable, so let me be that space for you! I have experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, LGBTQIA+ and college students. I also have training in Subtle Yoga.

Are you feeling overwhelmed or do you know you have been in survival mode for a long time? Past life experiences such as childhood trauma, relationships (romantic/platonic) loss or abuse can create barriers. This leaves most people to deal with their feelings of guilt, shame, and disappointment alone. You deserve a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings and a great therapist to help you process your experiences and move towards your goals.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
