Alan Capistrant is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience. Alan received his Masters degree in Counselor Education in 2002 from the CACREP accredited Institute, the Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania. He is currently licensed in the state of North Carolina. Alan provides counseling services to individuals, including children, adolescents, and adults. He currently provides individual and family therapy to a wide range of individuals. His general approach to counseling includes promoting autonomy, utilizing strength-based techniques.

I have experience supporting several populations, including children aged 5 and above, adolescents, adults and adolescents in transitional phases, older generations, and women. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and have experience working with adults affected by alcohol use disorders, rural communities, military dependents, non-traditional/blended families, and neurodivergent individuals. I also enjoy working with individuals who are new to therapy or wary about receiving therapy. I strive to foster an environment where my clients are comfortable enough to open up about their thoughts and emotions.

Through great pain comes better awareness and understanding about ourselves and the world around us. My journey as a counselor began during my experience with war deployments, which inspired my search to find ways to help others who are hurting. After completing my Master's degrees in Couples and Family Counseling, I have worked extensively with the court system, with families in need, and with individuals of all ages. My other passion in life is speaking and learning more Spanish. I offer therapy sessions to adults, children, families, and couples. I am a certified hypnotherapist.
