I believe that we all function based on the beliefs instilled in us at an early age and are reinforced in various ways throughout our lives. Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Autism, and Trauma are some of my areas of focus with DBT, CBT, and ACT being my main treatment modalities. I offer support for children, teens, adults, families, and couples. I also offer support for loved ones of someone with Borderline Personality Disorder and other diagnoses.

The most helpful thing I can do is guide you to your own wisdom and help you trust your inner-voice as the highest authority. I believe anyone who steps into a therapeutic space exhibits strength and courage, and is taking responsibility over their life. We all have times where it is beneficial to talk with someone who isn't part of our daily life, who doesn't judge and where we can feel safe and supported. I am warm, direct and interactive. I use both humor and empathy to connect and help clients grow, change and live the lives they want. I believe there is no limit to our ability to change and evolve throughout our lifetime.

The therapeutic relationship can provide an opportunity for you to process emotional, relational, and spiritual issues in a safe, non-judgmental environment. I incorporate a wide range of strategies in my therapeutic philosophy and style based on your need. In addition to individual therapy, I provide marital and family therapy, including mutli-generational family sessions. Much of my previous professional experience has been with relationship issues, grief, women's issues and trauma. I am currently accepting new patients.

I specialize in Trauma, Veteran, and LGBQ+ & T issues, as well as Anxiety/Depression and Political/Religious Trauma in teens, adults, elders, and couples. I can help alleviate consistent anxiety and feelings of depression that come from the past experiences and fears about the future. I understand the demands of marriage and parenting as well as those compounded by the military. I work with those navigating through divorce and child custody as well. I am retired from the United States Air Force and can assist in navigating the military/VA disability path.

As a counselor, I believe that true and lasting change comes from looking at the whole person. I work with patients to bring about transformation through an understanding of the body, emotional healing, behavioral change and a spiritual foundation. I enjoy working with adolescents and families who have been affected by violence, trauma, family changes, drugs and major life changes. Within our practice, we have a passion for providing competent and compassionate services to those individuals who trust us with their concerns, fear, and disappointments. Dr. Owen Guess was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. Owen received his bachelor’s of Social Work degree from North Carolina A&T State University in 2010. Upon receiving his degree he pursued his Masters of Social Work Degree from Clark Atlanta University in 2011. Following his time in Atlanta, Owen spent time working as an outpatient therapist for six years. During his time he worked with pre-teens, adolescents, and adults. While working with as an outpatient therapist Owen desired more information to best serve those in need of assistance.

In my 30 years of clinical experience I have been able to help people from all walks of life find relief from a wide variety of psychological and behavioral problems. My areas of speciality include: anxiety disorders, including obsessive compulsive disorder (using CBT & exposure/response prevention), trichotillomania, compulsive skin picking, other OC spectrum disorders, panic disorder, phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, and social phobias; mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder; sexual addiction; situational problems. I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, incuding cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic therapies, EMDR, and mindfulness approaches to therapy.

Welcome! Vicki's practice primarily focuses on adults who suffer from symptoms associated with trauma. While various events in life may cause post traumatic stress, Vicki has learned that symptoms often begin early in life through family neglect or other difficult family relations. If your emotions and esteem feel challenged by early traumatic experiences and memories, know that you do not have to spend the rest of life getting over childhood. Vicki has tools to share with you that she believes can help.

I have been providing counseling to adolescents and adults for 38 years. I work primarily from a cognitive-behavioral orientation but believe the most important aspect of counseling is the therapeutic relationship. My style is warm, engaging, straightforward and interactive. I will help you identify and build on your strengths and explore new ways of coping, thinking, acting and interacting with others.
