My specialty areas include substance use and/or dependency, transitions in life, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship, etc.
** Christian Counseling ** My professional experience has been working with adolescents, college students, adults, working on various issues, and wanting someone to help them in the journey. No one lives life without going through something that makes them question whether they can work through it on their own. This is the very place God has for us to come to him and his strength. I have personally experienced a few of these, and have been given a calling for helping others in theirs. My practice aims to shine light on the purpose we have on this earth, and walking with you to uncover the roots of why you struggle.

If college is the best four years of your life, then why do you feel like this? Stressed and alone. Surrounded by people, but struggling to connect. Wanting love, but tired of the games and swiping. Scared of the real world, and still stuck with that vape habit and yoyo diet from high school. Or maybe you were so excited for parenthood, but not for this. This is so loud and hard and nothing like the pictures online. Life transitions - my favorites being college and parenthood - can shake you up and reveal cracks you never knew were there, but they can also shake you loose from your old habits so you can grow.

Not accepting new clients
I specialize in many areas of therapy including substance use and addiction, parenting, relationships, anger management, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem.
**CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS** I work with with students, adults, couples, and families looking to change the things that aren't working by identifying the patterns that are creating problems in your life. I believe we all possess the ability to change our circumstances. But life happens and sometimes we can get so tangled up in our circumstances that we can't find the way out and need a little extra guidance.

The bright promising world we once knew can grow dark through our perceived negative experiences in life. It is hard to get out of a dark or chaotic place if we cannot see our way out. Mental health or Substance abuse counseling helps us to identify the incidents in life that may have influenced our current behavior, process it, and then restructure our thoughts and lives so that we can recapture a view of that light we once lost sight of. We can then set goals with intentional actions to help move forward to a more fulfilling version of ourselves through positive thought, constructive choices, and healthy relationships.

The loops we live in are the glass ceiling of our life: loops are the patterns, embodied and enacted, that characterize our life. Loops are an inevitable and necessary component of human experience. However, when loops are not working for us, we become limited by them, keeping us feeling stuck, trapped, disempowered, and confused. Owning our loops allows us to own our life. Common loops include: trauma, addiction, relationship dynamics, mood, beliefs, and identity. Push beyond your limiting loops to discover who you are and what your life can be.

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.
How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.
How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.
How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
