Are you struggling with feelings of isolation or overwhelmed and burdened by your emotions? Feelings of shame and self-doubt because of a betrayal in an interpersonal relationship? Are you struggling navigating the rocky terrain of a life transition- whether that be a career change, ending a long-term relationship, or coming into a new identity (motherhood, divorce, or life after abuse)? Do you feel like your normal support systems just aren't getting what you are navigating in your life and need a little extra support? These experiences can feel overwhelming and my goal is to create a space where you can explore your feelings.

Life can be overwhelming sometimes. Relational concerns, unexpected challenges, new or old traumas, and life transitions can all lead to mental health needs. Often we default to pushing through or feeling like we should be able to tackle these things alone, but nothing could be further from the truth. With support from a knowledgable and caring professional who uses evidence-based approaches, you can start the work of feeling like yourself again, or perhaps feeling better than you've ever felt before.

I believe in the healing power of relationships. Humans have a biological need to find safety through connection with others. Disconnection in relationships may leave you feeling hopeless. Together, we will look at your relationship to self and how this impacts navigating relationships with others. If you have difficulty having a healthy relationship to your body and food, I am also pursuing a certification in intuitive eating principles and integrate these into my practice with clients as needed.

One of my deepest passions is childbirth trauma, and prenatal/postpartum issues such as postpartum depression, miscarriage/stillbirth, and infertility.
I specialize in PTSD, perinatal issues, and couples counseling using a wide range of evidence-based approaches, including "talk therapy," and neuro-based approaches such as EMDR. Trauma, such as child abuse, sexual violence, and domestic violence can create chaos in many areas of your life, including relationships, parenting, work/school, and even your physical health. We'll look at your "whole self." Who are you as a person, beyond your symptoms? What does your "best life" look like? What's getting between you and your goals? Together, we'll identify your goals, and start your journey to being the best version of yourself!

I've been there and I can relate to infertility, hormonal imbalance, and the feelings surrounding reproductive mental health.
Life is tough! Especially for females as they navigate through the various phases of reproduction. From adolescents, puberty, conception, childbirth, and menopause. Many women must face infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and even child loss in addition to the hormonal changes. It can be overwhelming! Can you benefit from insight, clarity, guidance, and empowerment?

I also work with women’s issues that include pregnancy, infertility and prenatal and postpartum mood disorders.
I enjoy working with adults that have unresolved issues that often stem from their childhood experiences. Many of us often feel stuck or on repeat, often making the same "mistakes" or choices that leave us feeling empty and unfulfilled. Gaining insight to past experiences and working through past traumas can provide us with emotional freedom and clarity, which can lead us to living a more fulfilling life.

Infertility Therapists

How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?

Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?

The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?

Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?

There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
