My true passion lies with helping young adults conquer anxiety, stress, depression, and OCD.
Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, you can't keep up with life? Is it normal for your day to feel overwhelming and full of anxiety and dread? Let's talk about it. No matter where you are in life, therapy is a great way to help you break the cycle and start new! I have a passion for walking alongside teens and adults as they experience the ups and downs of life. I understand how life changes can be a lot to manage and I believe that you don't have to do it alone. As an affirming therapist, I believe that a genuine connection and feeling of safety is the key to growing and becoming the best version of you.

Anxiety takes over your life. My clients often find themselves feeling stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated and worried about their performance. Sometimes they give up because the nervousness and anxiety is unmanageable. Sometimes they are unsuccessful at setting goals because of their fear of failure or rejection. Sometimes they feel angry or shameful over the way they look or appear to others. These behaviors can be pushed aside or avoided by the use of unhealthy coping skills. My clients may appear victorious through a mask of perfectionism, but when crucial performances or events arrive, the fear of failure implodes their success.

Do you feel like your mental health is in shambles, and you don't know where to start? Find yourself going down the "what if" rabbit hole. Are you grappling with the exhaustion and stress from day-to-day pressures? Do you feel like it's too much to handle? You're not alone! These feelings can arise when we neglect to give our minds and bodies the time they need to heal. I believe that we are strong alone but stronger together. Together, we can build a life that authentically reflects your values. I approach therapy with mutual trust and respect, tailoring it to meet you where you are in your journey.

As a potential client, know that your courage to face personal vulnerabilities and uncertainties is acknowledged from the start. To realize and understand the efforts you've made already affords us early opportunities to consider possibilities in therapy. Your desired outcome is the goal. The process of sharing, reflecting, and adjusting any internal and relational patterns is our therapy means to this end. The clinical approaches perhaps most reflective in therapy are cognitive-behavioral, inter-personal and family systems, and acceptance/commitment. Interventions are based on your child/family, couple, and individual needs.

I recognize it can be hard to reach out for help as well as make the time and space for yourself during the everyday craziness of life. We often put everyone else ahead of our own needs and put ourselves last and our needs on hold. Time just seems to fly by and nothing changes. By the time we are looking for a therapist or reaching out for help, we are overwhelmed and need support now. You may feel exhausted and may not even know where to start to make things better.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
