Are you a parent with a child whose behavior is out of control? Are your problems more than you can manage on your own? Do you feel like you have tried everything and nothing has worked? Has your child or teen been resistant to therapy in the past? Are arguments and disagreements a daily occurrence? Is school making you miserable? Does it feel like something needs to give before you give out? Would you like more enjoyment out of your life? You deserve happiness; I can help you and/or your child find it.

My thesis focuses on the over utilization of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to determine if it’s truly anxiety.
I am a Caribbean-American counselor providing services to various populations. My parents migrated from Grenada to Brooklyn, NY. I was born and raised in the melting pot surrounded by people of different ethnicities, religions, socioeconomic statuses and sexual orientations. I encourage clients to share their cultural beliefs and values to increase my multicultural competency. My counseling sessions are an integrative approach of narrative therapy then incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy. As a licensed counselor, I adhere to the Code of Ethics to ensure client safety. Both parties agree that sessions remain confidential.

I specialize in Depression, Anxiety, Mood disorders, Coping with Addictions, Trauma and Abuse (and often trauma-related diagnoses like BPD), LGBTQIA+ Issues, and ADHD.
Life can just feel really HARD sometimes. Coming to therapy can give you a place to unpack, unburden and untangle all of the “stuff” that’s weighing you down. I love connecting with my clients in a relaxed, open-minded, inclusive space that allows them to feel free to be themselves! In therapy, we will work together to figure out what feeling "OK" or "better" would look like, then we will collaborate on how to move towards that.

I am trauma-informed and treat all mood disorders (including Bipolar), anxiety disorders (including OCD), Complex PTSD, and adult ADHD.
Your mental health matters and proactively making it a priority is critical in today's world. If you are finding this to be challenging, or if you're feeling overwhelmed or stuck, reaching out for help is a great (and brave) decision. My top priority is to help clients feel safe, seen and understood from the very beginning. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process, built around your goals and needs. I'll create and hold space for you to explore yourself, to identify what is holding you back or impacting your mental health, and to ultimately find a pathway to a healthier and happier version of yourself.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
