I am licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher. I work with adults who are dealing with stressors or going through transitions. I have expertise in working with individuals who have experienced childhood and adult trauma and specialize in somatically-integrative care. I believe that each person is inherently resilient. I see therapy as a tool to help you discover your resilience, change unhelpful habits, heal wounds and grow into your potential. I think a strong therapeutic relationship is necessary for effective psychotherapy. I work in a client-centered way, collaborating with you on an individualized treatment plan.

Suffering presents itself in a number of ways- behaviors and relationships we desire to change, uncomfortable emotions, chronic health problems, and feeling out of touch with meaning in our lives. I aim to help clients not only feel better, but live a life according to their values. I work with adults across the lifespan to heal trauma, anxiety, and depression. Clients come seeking deeper insights and growth. I also offer customized intensives, ketamine assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic preparation/integration, and end of life support to individuals and families. My group practice affirms diversity, sex and body positivity.

I am currently accepting clients for premarital counseling.> I am a clinical social worker, addiction specialist and a certified supervisor. I support healing by fostering healthy relationship. I found that clients that value a psychobiological approach (relations between mind and body) tend to be drawn to me. I work both with individuals and couples. I support my clients through transitions and change. My work with clients revolves around supporting them to prioritize their needs, as well as to identify coping mechanisms and resources available to them. I do not accept insurance for couples work, but I do for individual.

Relationships are hard work, but you're in the right place. Whether you've been married for years or just dating and considering making a commitment, we can help. Couples who come to see us often have a strong desire to be closer to their partner but have found themselves locked in a pattern of stressful interaction, which leads to the problems they are hoping to address in counseling. Together we navigate the process of understanding the cycles couples get stuck in and identify what needs to change in order to build a safe, intimate, and loving connection.

Our work is dedicated to helping ALL people develop healthy, satisfying, productive, and meaningful lives. Though it can be difficult to make the decision to begin therapy, we have found that those who have sought help and take responsibility for their emotional heath and relationships have achieved remarkable results. People come to us for a variety of reasons: they may be in transition, experiencing work stress, grieving a loss, struggling with religious or family ideals which no longer suit them, a new parent experiencing anxiety. Some have begun to feel daily life is stagnant, seeking more direction and purpose in their lives.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
