I have years of experience beginning with a background leading Christian recovery groups and now as a licensed counselor offering private therapy services.
You’re stressed and filled with anxiety. Your thoughts are negative and you lack self-confidence. Intrusive thoughts keep distracting you from what you need to do each day. You worry too much - maybe you've even become worried about how much you worry. Do you want to learn to lower the volume of the anxiety? Do you hope to gain some perspective about all the worries keeping you awake at night? Have you tried to manage emotions by stuffing them deep inside? Or maybe your emotions are all over the place and you aren't sure what you are feeling.

As a Christian Counselor, holistic practitioner, and life coach envisioning my ideal client involves understanding their multifaceted needs and aspirations. My ideal client seeks healing and growth not only on a cognitive and emotional level but also on a spiritual and physical level. They come to me with a desire to address not just the symptoms of their struggles, but the root causes, seeking deeper understanding and meaning in their journey towards wellness. Their goals may vary, from overcoming specific challenges such as anxiety or depression to achieving a sense of balance, purpose, and connection in their lives.

Although I am especially equipped to help with Christian spiritual issues, all are welcome; your values/faith will be respected.
Sometimes we all can use a little help on life's journey--when things seem dark, when we feel like we are drowning in emotions, challenges, or thoughts, or when we just need someone to help with focus as we set a course toward achieving our goals. That is what therapy is all about! Therapy is not having someone with all the right answers tell you what to do or doing things to you; it is having a professional guide to draw out your goals and strengths, to breathe hope into difficult times, and to assist with perspective and skills. As Rumi said, "The wound is where the light enters you." Come, find hope, and refuel for your journey.

I specialize in helping Christian women and women of color to navigate through life transitions, overcome feelings of depression, anxiety, and unbelief, build up their faith and Christ confidence and to forgive themselves and others.
Are you a Christian woman struggling to cope with life challenges, transitions and uncertainties? Do you struggle with anxiety, limited beliefs and negative self talk? Are you looking to be healed emotionally and mentally from past relationships and be the woman that Lord Jesus (Yeshua) has ordained for you to be? Do you feel like you are not where you should be in life and you “missed God”? Are you holding on to unforgiveness towards yourself, others and even Father God? Are you distant from Lord Jesus (Yeshua) and need some spiritual guidance to reconnect with Him?

I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors in addition to the North Carolina Association of Licensed Professional Counselors.
Each of us at some point in our lives face painful life situations and challenges, some of which we can navigate alone, but others requiring help. Sometimes family and friends can provide that support but many times having a non-biased perspective is more appropriate and effective. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I use appropriate psychological methods used within the field of mental health professionals and add the insights of Biblical Truth to help those who are hurting and facing such situations effectively overcome them and move forward to experience a more purposeful and satisfying and life.

I have experience with both transgender and LGBTQ+ clients and Christian-identifying clients as well.
I love working with parents (new and old!), college students, and children ages 0-18. I’m the best fit for clients who are looking for longer term therapy so they can really understand themselves and their relationships better. My therapeutic approaches depend on the client's needs and typically include play, art, and talk therapy. I'm a psychodynamic therapist, which means we might end up talking about past relationships, dreams, and underlying reasons for why we do the things we do.

My passion is to help people become the version of themselves that they want to be by adopting a stance of belief in those who I get to work with. Together we will identify and replace the core beliefs and habits that create barriers to meeting outcomes, while also setting up positive expectations for change and lean on resources already possessed. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, or just the difficult changes that come with life, I’m here to help you.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
