Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed? It's easy to feel unsettled these days. The pace of life just keeps getting faster and stress keeps piling on. In addition to worrying all the time you’ve also been having more physical problems: digestive issues, headaches, trouble sleeping. You never feel rested anymore. The truth is, you just don’t feel like yourself. It's all too much. With all that that life is throwing at you it’s hard to know where to turn and who to trust. The good news is you don't have to face the difficulties of life alone. Together we can find an approach that works for YOU!

Understanding and making sense of your experiences and patterns can help you live a more balanced life - a life which empowers you and generates a positive path to growth, health, and well-being. The goal of our therapy would be to bring more awareness to your choices and patterns, so that you can be empowered to make more mindful decisions. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and make sense of the past and meet new challenges in your life with more clarity and balance.

Every person I serve has a unique story. While some clients experience challenges in just one area, most experience difficulty multiple areas (mental health, trauma, loss, addiction), creating a complex, vicious cycle if not all parts are addressed. The circumstances that bring someone to therapy do not come in 'neat little packages.' I enjoy sorting out the pieces with each client, getting to the root of the issue, and offering a combination of evidence-based therapeutic interventions that help clients finally begin to experience relief, and start living a happier, more fulfilled life.

Reaching out for support is not easy, and I admire your bravery in doing so. My name is Sanja - I’m a holistic trauma therapist who understands that trauma, C/PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, stress, and narcissistic abuse aren’t just stories from your past; they are experiences held in your body, shaping how you move through the world. Maybe therapy isn’t new to you, but you’re searching for deeper, more transformative healing. I deeply resonate with the struggles you are facing, and I understand that these challenges aren’t just isolated experiences, but part of a complex and ongoing journey.

You have been been facing difficulties but feel unable to continue struggling alone. Therapy is a good option because often issues are best solved within the context of a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Your difficulties may be the result of current stresses, changes in your phase of life, long-standing difficulties with relationships, or childhood loss or abuse that continues to pain you. My psychoanalytically-informed approach to short or long-term therapy is based on gaining insight into what issues may be interfering with your ability to work effectively, enjoy life or relate to significant others.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
