I specialize in psychodynamic, existential, and family dynamics modalities.
Feeling stuck or uncertain about your purpose can lead you into a cycle of unhappiness & stagnation that feels impossible to break. While life is complex, you can learn to use this complexity to enhance your life instead of feeling trapped or overwhelmed by it. Together, we will understand any unhealthy patterns or cycles you're currently in; identify reasons you're feeling trapped or unmotivated both internally & in your relationships; & explore what changes are necessary to bring meaning & fulfillment into your life.

My primary model is psychodynamic which is insight-oriented.
I believe that every human is shaped by an interplay of factors that come from within and without the person. That is to say that the power of therapy comes from a deeper understanding of the forces inside and out that shape a person into a unique individual. I also find that the center of psychotherapy is the relationship--the relationship with those in one’s life, the relationship with the therapist, and the relationship with oneself. Whether you are seeking therapy to find a deeper purpose in your life, or you are experiencing life’s challenges in the form of pain, anxiety, depression, loss, or conflict, I am here to help.

Using an inclusive mix of psychodynamic and experiential therapies, we will work together to understand your story and write your future.
Grief and loss are naturally occurring themes throughout our lives. As we live and love, we will lose and grieve. Grief happens not only with the death of a loved-one but also when passing through other life stages like break-ups and divorces, school or job changes, retirements, empty nesting, life-changing illnesses, and preparing for our own deaths. Ignored grief can look like depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, and interpersonal difficulties. I am dedicated to assisting people through these times and I enjoy working with individual adults of all ages, at all stages.

Gottman trained through a psychodynamic lens, I can effectively uncover these unhealthy overcompensating patterns that no longer serve you.
I’ve been working as a child & family therapist at least 10 years dealing with trauma and addiction. From there I branched out to work with adults. As a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I am passionate about healing and growth. I can work closely with you to provide a safe and confidential space for renewing and rewiring our brain. Are you struggling as a couple? We often overcompensate in our relationships often due to ignoring past hurts and fears, repeating the same patterns without even realizing it because it’s so familiar. And what we resist persists. Let’s work together to peel these layers to the beautiful real you.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
