My method is not one-size-fits-all and will be tailored to each individual’s unique story, however I do pull techniques from a Narrative Therapy perspective highlighting externalizing and evolving your narrative.
Families that are experiencing challenges related to life transitions such as family blending, disagreements on how to handle certain matters, a member having a newly diagnosed mental health problem, and sibling fighting are all struggles that I can help guide you through. I also have experience with mothers dealing with transitioning to motherhood for the first, second, third or more time(s) experiencing mental and emotional changes. We will partner together in achieving goals such as learning healthy coping mechanisms during life transitions and reframing thought perspectives to help with behavioral and emotional growth.

I utilize an integrative, person-centered approach, including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, EMDR, Exposure & Response Prevention therapy, Cognitive Processing therapy, Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Narrative therapy, and Mindfulness.
Starting therapy can be an intimidating process. My desire as a counselor is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you are free to be your authentic self and explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Together, we will investigate your wants and needs, the thoughts that trouble you, and the life experiences that have impacted you. I aim to work collaboratively with you to create and achieve goals and find balance in your life.

The stories of our lives have a tremendous impact on who we are as people, and how we feel. As a narrative-based therapist, it is my privilege to be invited to witness your story and be part of the change that you are seeking. With training in marriage and family therapy comes a unique understanding of how relational experiences, how you grow up, communities, and society as a whole can impact how each person interacts with and understands the world around them. I operate from a neurodivergent affirming and trauma-informed style, and seek to offer a compassionate and understanding atmosphere while inviting you to challenge yourself.

Along with engaging in traditional talk-therapy and utilizing evidenced based techniques (ACT, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Narrative), I enjoy incorporating other resources such as books (fiction and nonfiction), podcasts, poetry, art, and anything related to nature.
Living with chronic illness (interstitial cystitis) and pain, I’m intimately aware of the toll it takes on the body, mind, and spirit— how it’s woven into the fabric of all aspects of living, how it has a tendency to keep us tethered to fear, hopelessness, and isolation. I believe in validating the reality of what is chronic and pervasive. I also believe it is possible to soften the grasp these diagnoses have on our lives. As a woman, I’m passionate about supporting those with conditions that are far too often invalidated and overlooked, such as IC, ENDO, & PCOS. Building community offers something solid to be tethered to.

Focusing primarily on relationships, sexuality and trauma; and starting with the belief that relationships are central to our well-being, I partner with patients to create a warm and safe space in which to explore patterns that effect well-being. Therapy is not only to heal past hurts, but also to improve current/future functioning. I see psychotherapy as a joint and dynamic process between patients and clinician. My work is informed by Polyvagal & attachment theories; and pulls from a variety of evidence-based models including mindfulness, narrative therapy, EFT & Gottman approaches, among others. I am trained in EMDR & hypnosis.

It may involve music, sand play, psychodrama, or even, ironically, watching tv and movies! I use a person-centered approach based in Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioral, DBT, and Narrative therapies.
Accepting Clients! Do you struggle with feeling happy, communicating clearly, or building fulfilling relationships? Do you wonder how past trauma is still affecting you? Understanding your past can be the key to your future! Together, we will explore issues such as survival of interpersonal violence, an addicted parent, witnessing a violent event, natural disasters and other traumatic events that have contributed to your addictive behaviors, mental illness, or unhealthy relationships. With this knowledge we will discuss healthy coping skills, building a support network, and planning for safety in the face of your triggers.

How I Can Help: Build confidence and self-worth: Help you or your child develop a positive self-narrative and strong sense of self.
I have a passion for supporting youth, adolescents, and young adults experiencing challenges with depression, anxiety, communication, behavioral issues, and academic performance. As a social worker, I seek to address these concerns while considering family and community challenges. Navigating the demands of being a child, student, and parent can be difficult. When our lives become out of balance, it can negatively affect our relationships and sense of self. My goal is to help you build a positive self-narrative, highlight your resilience, and acquire skills to increase confidence and connection in your daily life.

I believe through Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, we will be able to focus on our unconscious mind and identify the root causes of current life stressors.
Specialty: Anxiety and Inner Child Trauma. Are you at a place in life where you want to achieve your goals and live out your dreams, but you feel stuck? Do you need someone to talk to who will just listen? Do you feel like issues from your childhood or past are affecting how you feel, think, and behave, & are affecting your ability to maintain meaning relationships? I’m a nature-loving psychotherapist. I’ve always used nature to cope with my anxiety & daily life stressors. I’ve been an over-thinker and nature photographer (safespacesisi) since I was 14 & I’ve been practicing in the mental health field since 2018!

Narrative Therapists
Is narrative therapy evidence-based?
Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.
How long does narrative therapy last?
Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.
Does narrative therapy work?
Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.
What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?
Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
