I am passionate about helping neurodivergent-identifying folx navigate a world designed by and for a neurotypical brain. I am an ardent advocate for neurodiversity and view ADHD as a brain style. My focus, through empirically supported coaching and solution-focused counseling, is to transform “disorder” into an asset. I partner with my clients to develop skills that compensate for the difficult parts of their diagnosis, while celebrating the amazing qualities of their neurodivergent brain.

As a Licensed Psychological Associate and Nationally Certified School Psychologist, I have a keen interest in and extensive experience working with preschool- and school-aged children, including those with developmental delays, learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and other behavioral and emotional concerns. For several years, I worked as a school psychologist, providing psychological evaluations, intervention development, and consultative services. I am well-versed in the special education evaluation and eligibility process within the public school system.

I have extensive experience administering psycho-educational evaluations. I work with a variety of clients, from the low functioning to the extremely gifted. These evaluations include a cognitive (IQ) test and an educational test which can be used to identify learning disabilities and gifted children. I am able to test in the school environment as well as the private sector. Reports meet all NC State requirements and can be used for educational institutions to qualify the student for special services and accommodations from the Exceptional Children's Program.

I provide comprehensive psychological evaluations with children and adults, ages 3 and up. I assess for learning difficulties, attention disorders and a wide range of mental health conditions. I have 20 years of experience providing psychological and educational assessments in area public school systems as well as private practice. I earned my master’s in Clinical/Community Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have been licensed by the North Carolina Psychology Board as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) since 1996.

Children and adolescents are wonderfully unique, and as such, require an individualized treatment approach designed to celebrate their strengths and target areas for continued growth. My approach to assessment and treatment emphasizes the role and contributions of important individuals and caregivers in each child's life, and these individuals are invited to participate in treatment. My experience, knowledge gained, and intentional growth thus far has allowed me to trust a combination of DBT Therapy and Skills, Value Work, and healing to start or continue moving towards a life worth living for our greatest good and highest purpose. Although this is an ongoing process, we often times show up and reach out when we are uncomfortable and finding it hard to have joyful moments. I'm Perla Haros, a dedicated educator passionate about supporting students in their learning journey and emotional development. I specialize in serving the English and Spanish populations. With a Bachelor's degree in Special Education focused on the intellectual area, I bring over a decade of experience working with children ages 5-17. Throughout my career in education, I often felt extremely rewarded when given the opportunity to aid a child in learning how to regulate his/her emotions. My Montessori certification has further enriched my counseling approaches, fostering independence, creativity, and critical thinking.

I use a collaborative, hands on approach to help clients become more productive and content at school, work, home, and in relationships. I use my strong background in assessment to help clients to understand how their learning style (both strengths and weaknesses) impacts their ability to succeed. I also enjoy working with college students and adults, offering psychological assessments and ADD/ADHD coaching. My approach to coaching clients with ADD/ADHD is a non-judgmental, practical approach. I I help clients create natural, sustainable change that will decrease their stress (and stress of those around them).
