Now serving SC! People come to me because they want to better understand addiction, mental health, and often how to treat both at the same time. Mood and anxiety disorders are common for those struggling with addiction, and not receiving the right care can result in increased relapses and a poor quality of life. I solely work with clients experiencing addiction disorders, their families, and co-occurring mental health. I offer virtual sessions for NC residents and am in-network with Aetna (NC Only). I offer virtual and in-person sessions for SC residents and can discuss insurance benefits on a case-by-case basis. I do not accept BCBS of SC. I also enjoy assisting other professionals by providing clinical supervision in North Carolina (CADC, LCAS-A, LCAS) and South Carolina (AADC, LAC). Charlie B. Counselman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate located in the Morrisville, North Carolina area. Charlie specializes in meeting his clients virtually via tele-health to treat those looking for help with Depression, Anxiety, Men’s Issues, Alcohol and Substance Use Issues, Marriage and Relationships Issues, and Process Addictions. Charlie utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing Therapy, and 12-step Facilitation.

I help adults work toward the specific mental health goals they set for themselves, focusing on subjective experiences of the world, and building on individual strengths to develop new skills. I have extensive experience working with graduate students and professionals coping with stress, as well as occupational transitions. I also train master's and doctoral level student therapists at a local university to help clients confront their life challenges. Throughout my career, I have never met a truly "broken" person incapable of making positive changes, and I work collaboratively with my clients to resolve their unique issues. My focus is increasing personal empowerment and agency in one's life increasing their ability to navigate life's problems. I'm a very laid-back professional and I take pride in being flexible with my clients.
