Like most therapists, I utilize a wide variety of clinical modalities (CBT, EMDR, DBT, ACT, logotherapy, person-centered therapy).
Therapy is for everyone. Life is beautiful, but it can also be brutal. We all go through times in our lives where talking it out with a friend or meditating just doesn't cut it. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, or just feeling stuck in life, I'm here for you. I'll walk alongside you on this journey to help you identify your strengths and coping strategies to help you move forward. We'll also detangle the threads of your past and help you make sense of the story of your life. We'll talk about your childhood trauma as well as what's going on in the present - and how these things interact.

I use a combination of therapy models, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy for adolescents and EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy for adults, in which clients learn the myriad ways in which trauma affects thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how clients can change these patterns to improve their overall emotional well-being.
Life can be hard when you're struggling with a big change, whether that be starting a new job, returning to school, or making a big move. It's even harder when you're struggling with anxiety or depression, unresolved trauma, identity concerns, or neurodiversity! Sometimes, it can feel like everything in life is working against you. Working together in therapy can be the first step toward making that burden more manageable, and I'm here to help.

I provide trauma-informed care to individuals and am an EMDR trained therapist.
I have always had an interest in not only how our minds, bodies, and spirits are connected, but also what takes place when an imbalance exists and then how to implore healing. I look at an individual through a holistic lens, and use this approach, when appropriate. A part of this holistic approach, I have the belief that as a part of the world and universe in which we live, that we are all, interconnected and operate as a part of a dynamic system. I am especially interested in how mindfulness practices, yoga, animals, and nature, might influence the ideas of acceptance and non-judgment, and overall, positively affect an individual.

My holistic approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as: EMDR, DBT, parts work, yoga therapy, and somatic interventions.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by past experiences that continue to haunt you, affecting your daily life and relationships? Maybe you've tried talk therapy before, but it just didn't seem to get to the heart of what you're going through, and didn’t get to the root of the problems? You're seeking relief, understanding, and a way to break free from the patterns that hold you back. You want to reclaim control over your emotions, find inner peace, and build a life filled with meaning and fulfillment.

My approach incorporates cognitive behavioral theories, mindfulness and acceptance, EMDR/trauma-focused and holistic methods.
I provide services for clients who I believe have the capacity to resolve their own problems with my assistance. I offer a professional relationship with my clients to assist them in exploring and resolving difficult issues. I believe that as people become more accepting of themselves, they are more capable of finding happiness and contentment in their lives. Self-awareness and self-acceptance are goals that sometimes take a long time to achieve. While some clients may need only a few counseling sessions to feel complete, others may require months. I offer a caring, empathic space to explore, heal and to try new ways of being.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
