I have advanced training in DBT, EMDR, & Brainspotting & have worked in various counseling settings.
Living in a world that tells us it’s not okay to be who we truly are is hard, hurtful, and exhausting. I want to help you be more of you - not less. To help you both be gentle with and challenge yourself. To trust yourself. To feel liberated to be your full, authentic, and dynamic self. If you’re tired of shrinking yourself or being shrunk by others, I want to support you as you embrace this process of expansion. My goal as a counselor is to help you accept yourself just as you are, have compassion for where you are right now, and commit to making changes that help you live a meaningful, values-driven life that works for you.

My clinical background touches on a wide variety of therapy models, such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP).
Not all pain is physical. This is an important part of how I approach working with clients. We can be impacted mentally, emotionally, and spiritually during our lives. Life circumstances can test what we think and know about the world. As a therapist, I believe in the human capacity for change no matter the situation, and I help individuals develop skills for communication, resilience, building relationships, and resolving conflict.

Specializing in a holistic approach to mental wellbeing, I integrate mindfulness-based interventions such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) into our work.
I often tell my clients that life is full of VUCA: Volatility. Uncertainty. Complexity. And Ambiguity. If your're feeling stuck, or anxious, or overwhelmed by VUCA, I'm here to help you. As a mindfulness-based therapist, I listen keenly. Guided by an understanding of your needs. Our journey can take many forms. You may learn new coping skills, unravel unhelpful thought patterns, or learn to let-go of the habits no longer serving you. No matter the direction, feel confident in knowing that grace, grit, and wisdom are the forces that will lead you to healing.

I am certified in DBT and have found this modality has been helpful in positive outcomes.
I have worked with a very diverse population and like to start with what my clients identify as their needs. Though I'm active and make observations and give guidance, I will quickly make it known to you that I want your feedback even if it is different from mine. This includes my work with adolescents and children as i know they are often reluctant with therapy yet want to be heard and this is how i join with them. Please think of your goals before coming in because this way you can determine if you are satisfied with my services. I am happy at this time to also offer Telepsych therapy sessions as an option

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
