Service delivery will be anchored in evidence-based treatment that includes person-centered approaches, motivational interviewing, and the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Children and families have been the focal point of my career for over 20 years. I have learned that youth and adults benefit from listening, understanding, and validation. Nowadays, the impact of unresolved mental health issues is a clear and present growing risk factor. Please do not hesitate to speak with someone about difficult matters. Having good mental health can reduce risk factors and should be a prioritized need alongside our physical health. For mental health crises, you can call Mobile Crisis at 877-626-1772; or National Suicide Prevention Hotline 800-273-8255 (dial 988). For life threatening emergencies, please call 911.

I am experienced working with individuals (age 13-50), couples and families who are experiencing issues such as: ADHD, Behavioral Disorders (ODD/Disruptive Disorder), Mood Disorders (Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety), Trauma (PTSD, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault), Self-injury, and Compulsive Disorders as well as family conflict resolution.
Are you looking for something to be different in your life? Do you want to change your life situation, solve a problem, make a major decision, or gain a better understanding of what is happening in your life or relationships? Through counseling, I will provide a person-centered and cognitive behavioral perspective. Hi! I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress management for children, teens, and adults. I like to utilize a creative approach to therapy to help tailor to you as an individual. I view myself as an eclectic counselor as I like to pull from various theories to best fit your needs. I mostly tend to utilize cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, expressive art therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I chose to become a counselor because I love to witness the growth that others achieve. I have a passion for healing and counseling allows me to be a part of others’ healing journeys almost every day.

My philosophy approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which I help my clients reconstruct their thoughts and the way they process information to see situations differently.
The process of working with a new client is to gather pertinent information about the client's psychosocial, environment, and past family history to help accurately diagnose the client. Once a diagnosis is made then a treatment plan would be developed conjointly between the client and me utilizing S.M.A.R.T. goals. S.M.A.R.T. goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based goals that would help the client be successful in treatment. If you are looking for a counselor who is genuine, compassionate, authentic, and who will listen and care about your concerns. Then I am here to help you restore your self-worth.

And it takes a commitment to make sometimes difficult changes in behavior or thinking patterns.
My theory of counseling is that people have specific behaviors they would like to change, which are caused by our irrational, self-defeating beliefs learned from earlier life experiences. My goal will be to assist with changing undesired behaviors and circumstances. Counseling is a personal exploration that leads to major changes in your life perspectives and decisions. These changes may affect significant relationships and understanding of yourself. Some of these life changes could be temporarily distressing. Together we will work to achieve the best possible results for you.

I focus on where clients are "in the here and now,” while also guiding them towards making connections between past experiences, relational/behavioral patterns, & present-day challenges.
Thank you for visiting my page. I understand and appreciate that reaching out for support is not easy. Through the brave action of engaging in therapy, I believe clients gift themselves an opportunity to gain powerful insights, grow in self-awareness, cultivate a deeper connection to themselves and others, and ultimately move toward lasting change. My role as therapist is to facilitate and support this process within the structure of a warm, safe, and non-judgmental environment where all - regardless of race, religion, identity, or background - are included and welcome.

Behavioral Issues Therapists
What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?
No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.
What therapy types help with behavioral issues?
Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.
How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?
Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.
How effective is therapy for behavior issues?
Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
