I was in NY for the past 20 years and working at Columbia. I have transitioned to NC within the past few months in hopes to enjoy the slower pace and the sunshine. I believe reaching out to a therapist is one of the hardest things to do because of the stigma. My goal is to provide a caring, nonjudgmental space for you to express your true feelings of anger, depression, anxiety or even addiction. I believe your past unconsciously impacts your future and with a little patience, empathy and understanding can lead to a happier you!

I am EMDR trained and work with clients experiencing anxiety, major life stressors, mood disorders, substance use, grief, emotional dysregulation, and more.
It can be exhausting to navigate life when isolated, facing one stressor after another, feeling depressed or anxious, or trying to recover from a traumatic experience. For many, these experiences interfere with day-to-day life such as our relationships, work, school, and more. For many, therapy can provide needed support. The most significant part of therapy is your relationship with your therapist, this is why I approach therapy by getting to know you as a whole person and use a collaborative approach to help empower your innate strengths.

There is no need to struggle alone, and yet we often do. Our suffering may appear in many different forms, from depression and anxiety, to relationship issues, substance use and more. It’s time to shed this idea that “we have to have it all together” and allow ourselves be human for a moment. In this honest space, my clients tend to become more in touch with their authentic selves and establish beliefs, values, narratives and take steps towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Welcome to Speak Your Peace Counseling, Coaching, & Consulting PLLC, it’s a safe space for us! I’m Dr. Simone McIntyre and I’m a 2022 graduate from Capella University where my dissertation focused on Licensed Professional Counselors experiences receiving referrals from African American Pastor’s. This topic is so close to my heart because I was raised that Black people don’t do therapy. Additionally… I’m a preacher’s kid and a minister and understand the power in faith and psychology.   Although Speak Your Peace Counseling was founded in 2024, I have worked in the field in various capacities since 2002.

As a bilingual Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, I've had the privilege of working with individuals facing battles with trauma, addiction, depression, and anxiety.
At times, life can feel overwhelming, and you might find yourself in a constant battle with your emotions. The struggle to determine whether you're in control or if your emotions are controlling you can be incredibly challenging. Feelings of uncertainty and the weight of "what if" questions can become a heavy burden, leading to emotions like hopelessness, anxiety, sadness, or irritability. It's not uncommon to feel lost in these moments. Perhaps you've noticed that unhealthy behaviors and old patterns have become all too familiar. Please know that you're not alone in these experiences.
