Accepting new clients - evening and weekends available! I am passionate about working with children and their families. Children are learning about the world around them and they often don't know what their feelings mean or how to communicate them quite yet. When children have been through stressful things, it is even harder for them to express their feelings. And those feelings can come out of kids in big ways! As adults, we can struggle to understand how to help young ones when their emotions get really big. As their adult, you want to help your child and you also need someone to support you. That is where I can help.

You are not what you feel. You are not even what you think. You are what you do. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy is about taking thoughts and feelings and using them for what they're supposed to be: data. They are merely to let us know how we're responding to our environment. It is up to our higher cognitions, our rational thoughts, to decide what to do with that information. My clients range from those with neurodevelopmental issues, mood disorders, and life adjustment events. The premise is the same in all cases: understand ourselves, what we feel and think, figure out WHY we think that way, and then decide what to do with it.

Waitlist for new clients
By understanding people's needs and wants, I can create a safe space to allow the flow of thoughts and feelings those have bundled inside. Therapy is more than just talking to someone, it takes work, it takes healing, and it takes time. The concept of therapy can be scary for those who were made to stigmatize it, but by allowing yourself to open up to someone who is unbiased, it can be beneficial in the long run. I have known that I have always wanted to be a therapist. Ever since I was 12 years old I was always the friend that cared so much about others and created an empathetic environment.

*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS: (updated 7/9)* When in session, I want to foster safe spaces where challenging conversations and vulnerable emotions can be explored and processed, and achievements are celebrated. When stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and other emotional distress occurs, I meet my clients where they are at. Just because we can do something alone, does not mean we have to. Whatever stage of life you are in, let's work through those personal transitions and obstacles. Thus, I believe the best clinical relationships come when both of us are open, curious, and eager for the growth to come from session-to-session.

Being a therapist for the past 20 years I’ve seen so many changes in those 2 decades, however the things that remain the same are the thoughts, feelings, and understandings that exist between people. Supervision is at the heart of my practice and my approach is to guide supervises from viewing therapy from a theoretical perspective to weaving together their strengths, skills, and personalities into a unique clinical style that can benefit their clients. One of the most critical decisions you make at the beginning of your clinical career is to identify a supervisor.

It is an honor for me to have the opportunity to help others work through personal, relationship and other life issues by way of developing a strong therapeutic relationship. My primary goal in therapy is to establish and maintain a safe, trusting and accepting environment. I work from primarily ACT and DBT frameworks. Both of these therapies use Mindfulness strategies and other skills to "get you out of your head" and into living life to the fullest. Mental health and physical health are intimately intertwined. I often incorporate mind-body connection practices into treatment. Combining these techniques can elicit powerful change.

Are you someone who feels like you're drowning in responsibilities but struggles to reach out? When you're overwhelmed, it's like your thoughts become a tangled mess. You might worry about what others will say if they know you're struggling. There's this fear of burdening others or being judged for needing help. These thoughts echo loudly, reinforcing feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. It's tough to break free from these thoughts and patterns, especially when seeking help feels like admitting defeat.

Sometimes our current way of being ourselves feels stuck. Perhaps something in you feels unhealed, unwell, dead, or disconnected, incapable, or inaccessible. There are innumerable ways to speak of a rich and fulfilling life, but I believe one thing required is a feeling a wholeness and integration in our way of being. Trauma, pain, shame, stuck patterns of disconnection – there can be many obstacles to a thriving way of being ourselves. If you can relate to this, I say with compassion: “Welcome!" I work with individuals and couples who want to cultivate deeper connection and fulfillment in life.

In life, you seek out the ability to have peace, harmony, a fulfilling career, and a happy family. However, sometimes these things do not happen, or things go astray. Life happens, tragedy comes about, or situations arise to make you feel unhinged Sometimes, you just need someone with whom you can unload. Someone who will walk you through solutions to the problems at hand. I would like to be that person for you.
