My holistic approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as: EMDR, DBT, parts work, yoga therapy, and somatic interventions.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by past experiences that continue to haunt you, affecting your daily life and relationships? Maybe you've tried talk therapy before, but it just didn't seem to get to the heart of what you're going through, and didn’t get to the root of the problems? You're seeking relief, understanding, and a way to break free from the patterns that hold you back. You want to reclaim control over your emotions, find inner peace, and build a life filled with meaning and fulfillment. You don't want your past to dictate your future.

I am trained in different modalities that I will pull from including Gottman Method, EFT, IFS, EMDR, Experiential, Somatic, and Mindfulness to tailor a holistic and individualized approach as we develop a plan to meet you or your relationship's desired outcomes.
Each person seeks out therapy for different reasons. As we begin our work together, my goal is that we create an authentic space for you to explore where you are, the experiences you have had, what you feel is holding you back, and what you are hoping to change.

If you found yourself here looking for a counselor, there is a really good chance your nervous system is dysregulated. So maybe in addition to any anxiety and depression you feel, you might also be experiencing trouble sleeping, digestive issues, chronic pain or muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, being easily overwhelmed by emotions or your environment, quick to anger and irritability, or disconnected and numb. Issues with substance use and impulse control (eating, shopping, scrolling, gambling, etc), also known as behavioral or process addictions, can also result from and contribute to a dysregulated nervous system.

I have always had an interest in not only how our minds, bodies, and spirits are connected, but also what takes place when an imbalance exists and then how to implore healing. I look at an individual through a holistic lens, and use this approach, when appropriate. A part of this holistic approach, I have the belief that as a part of the world and universe in which we live, that we are all, interconnected and operate as a part of a dynamic system. I am especially interested in how mindfulness practices, yoga, animals, and nature, might influence the ideas of acceptance and non-judgment, and overall, positively affect an individual.

On leave until end of February 2024- Are pregnancy and motherhood supposed to feel this way? Why didn't anyone tell you how lost and alone you would feel? Since becoming a mom, you may feel like your partner and yourself are on autopilot and don't connect anymore. By acknowledging that you need some extra support, you can take the first steps to feeling more hopeful about this new adventure. You can work towards trusting yourself and others. You can be present in the moment for child, yourself and your loved ones and not lost in your self-critical thoughts.

My work integrates DBT, the Embodied Recovery Model for Eating Disorders (ERED), and somatic interventions to help you achieve a healthier relationship with food and your body, and equip you with a robust toolkit for nervous system regulation.
I work with adults and adolescents navigating eating disorders, self-esteem, and embodiment issues, and with individuals and couples seeking sex and relationship therapy. My practice is rooted in inclusivity and social justice, especially for those exploring nonmonogamy, kink dynamics, or who identify as queer or neurodivergent. In a world that disconnects us from our bodies and authentic selves, it can be difficult to feel safe, present, and connected. My goal is to help you reconnect—with your body, your desires, and your relationships—while navigating life’s challenges with resilience and self-compassion.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
