I have extensive experience with a diverse range of emotional and behavioral issues, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, adjustment disorder, ADHD, self-esteem, parenting, and peer relationships while working with individuals, couples and families.
My theoretical orientation is from an eclectic approach which provides a balance of the different types of therapies to meet the client where they are at. I also have acquired special training, which provides an opportunity for me to work with children and adults dealing with different traumas they have experienced. I ascribe to treating the whole person and to helping the individual to become his or her own best therapist. It is my belief that as an individual becomes more aware of their thoughts, actions, emotions and beliefs that they have increased ability to face challenges and overcome difficult situations more successfully.

I also provide trauma informed care that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma.
I am responsible for helping individuals, families, and groups of people to cope with problems they’re facing to improve their patients’ lives. Trauma affects the individual, families, and communities by disrupting healthy development, adversely affecting relationships, and contributing to mental health issues, including substance abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse. In schools, I address problems such as truancy, disruptive behavior, teenage pregnancy, drug use, and poor grades. I also advise teachers and act as liaisons between students, homes, schools, courts, protective services, and other institutions.

In gaining insight and awareness, we live more fully into who we really are and get to the other side of the challenges that come to us all - tough decisions, difficult relationships, life transitions, substance abuse, trauma, or loss, death, divorce, or illness.
Something - some event / loneliness /feeling like a fraud / feeling like something is missing - brought you to look for a resource at this particular time. Wondering "what's wrong with me" What is the message in the difficulty you are having? The answers lie within that message. It is in discovering - or rediscovering - of who you are that you need. It is finding out and getting back to who you genuinely are - only then can you live authentically. Only then can you see your way through. Don't change into someone else. Find - rediscover - your own goodness - your own strengths. Rediscover who YOU are and be that fully.

In my practice as a psychologist, I partner with individual and couples clients who are living with the effects of trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, self-image difficulties, out-of-control sexual behavior/sexual addiction, and alcohol and/or substance use difficulties, as well as people engaging in self-harm and/or suicidal behavior.
When we come to therapy, often our choices have not led to the life we desire. Under the influence of anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress, or the allure of substances, pornography, spending, etc., it can seem like life is out of our control. Rather than be controlled, we desperately want to be free to pursue what is truly good. Therapy then is an opportunity to not only find freedom from mental turmoil, but to realign life toward what is worth pursuing. The goal, then, is not simply to “not feel” a certain way, but to be drawn into something much greater that transforms our mind, our relationships, our work, our spirit.

I am fat-positive therapist and specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, trauma, depression, and anxiety.
As a therapist, I foundationally work from the belief that all humans deserve to feel safe and at home in their bodies. In this messy world, we can often find ourselves not trusting our bodies and wanting to change them. Sometimes within that mess, people may find themselves coping in ways that do not address their deep, underlying needs. I believe in this therapeutic process, you can reconnect with those needs and serve them more intentionally, healing the deepest parts of yourself. My goal is not only to help you find that healing, but to also enjoy and accept the messiness along the way.

I utilize knowledge of Anime and video games with children, teenagers, and adults as a tool to process trauma less directly.
My clients can expect an environment free of judgment, full of understanding and empathy, where they can face the challenges that they have in a supportive environment. My personal background allows me to look at client issues from a different view and offer real world healing that meets the client where they are. My client’s come from various backgrounds, but all seeking to better understand themselves and a better way of coping. Because I’m seeing clients virtually, they feel freer to share more intimate and personal concerns that might be harder to talk about in person.

There are many reasons people seek therapy - a little extra support, anxiety, depression, life transitions, learning to set boundaries, past or present trauma, navigating relationships, self esteem, stress, and more. While starting the process can be frightening and overwhelming, it can also be freeing. I understand this and work to build a relationship with each client that promotes trust, awareness, and understanding. If you're ready to get started, I'm here, and I'd love to help.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
