I graduated from UNCG in 2007 with my masters in community counseling. After becoming fully licensed I worked in the community, school, and inpatient settings providing therapeutic services and support. With 15 years experience in multiple settings, I began to specialize in issues ranging from depression, anxiety, and trauma, to difficult transitions like parenting, divorce, and empty-nesting. I continue to see a broad range of mental health concerns, genders, and populations. I meet clients where they are and work towards their goals.

Hello, I'm Alex and I'm a Christian therapist here to help and serve. I offer Telehealth therapy, and I accept most major insurances. I'm passionate about helping people reach their goals in a personable, and non-stuffy way. Online therapy provides the help you need in the comfort of your home. It eliminates the need for child care, saves time, saves gas, and instead you get to cozy up to your pet, on your sofa, in your pajamas, with hot tea, a notebook, and an attitude ready to dive in! I would be honored to help! My front office staff are ready to receive your calls to set up your intake appointment today.

Life is full of transitions and changes; some are welcome, and some are life shattering. What do you do when the aftermath of these changes is too much to manage? While it is common to feel anxious, overwhelmed, defeated, confused, and uncertain; you don’t have to stay in that place. Defining your new normal after these moments can require support and guidance.

As a Hmong American woman, I use a more holistic and didactic approach that encompasses the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual components that are relevant to you.
The quality of intimate relationships with others and ourselves is often the revelation of some of the challenges in our lives. In addition to that, navigating trauma, cultural complexities, and/or forgiveness and learning how to move forward after a major life event among many more can be challenging. I believe that every one of us plays an instrumental role in our healing and that we can conceive our solutions and answers to our situations. However, there are times when we need some help. With mental health counseling, I hope to understand what happened to you and help you live your life according to your values and beliefs.

Living your life in overwhelm. Exhausted and having to work at a toxic work place. Insecure about bills. Trying desperately to navigate relationships, transitions and being a new parent. Subsisting in demanding and frightening times, all while attempting to be an independent adult. It is no wonder you are depleted, frustrated, and heart broken.

"I'm okay. Everything's alright". You tell yourself this repetitively while withholding tears and smiling for everyone else. You secretly struggle to believe what God says about you. Some days you feel so alone. You battle to feel loved and good enough to be the person God created you to be. Anxiety, depression, fear, grief, loss, shame and trauma have become emotional strongholds. Life seems to keep coming and you feel depleted. You ultimately want to live in freedom in your mind, no longer enslaved by the pain of the past, comparison, and even fear that your future will be failure. You desire to sense hope and fulfillment again.

Let’s be real…life can be pretty shitty at times. One moment you can be shaking your booty to a pop song and riding the happy wave to all of sudden finding yourself crying and letting out your anger. When you find yourself stuck during those dark moments, it can feel like your life is at a standstill. Racing thoughts, nervous energy, and questioning the purpose of life consume your day-to-day. You look around and notice that no one understands what you are going through. You need an ear, you need support, and you need someone who gets you.

Hey Sis! As a Black therapist to high-achieving executive women of color in both corporate and entertainment, I feel you juggling roles as a boss, wife, mom, caregiver, wearing all those hats with the S on your chest and superwoman cape on. I know you're tired and that's ok! You may feel stretched thin and the weight of responsibilities burdensome. Trying to be everything to everybody is hard and highly unrealistic. There's a need for a new paradigm shift and the shift starts with you. Let's shift towards healthier boundaries, greater clarity in purpose, work and life harmony, peace inside, pure joy, healing, and ultimate FREEDOM.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
