You deserve to live your best life today! I work with clients facing anxiety, stress, depression, grief, men's issues and ADHD.
Hello! I'm glad you are here! I am pleased to announce that I am accepting new patients and Etna insurance now. The first step in getting mentally healthy is accepting you need help. The next is finding a counselor that listens, understands and is nonjudgmental. I meet people where they are in life. I enjoy the healing process of counseling and the personal growth that occurs when working with clients. Have you been suffering from high amounts of stress, habitual anxiety and depressed moods that result in emotional and physical fatigue? You are not alone, I understand, and I can help!

There's only one you! It’s amazing how alike we can be as human beings and yet so different. The best part is we’re all okay! Listen, we don’t have to be experts to know when something is not right. Just reach out. Some call it a leap of faith. Great, if you do ask for help-I'm ready and excited to get started on our journey. But if you aren't ready, I want you to remember that you ARE worth it!

Living and enjoying your life with greater degrees of wholeness, love, freedom and creativity is possible. But you feel stuck in unhealthy patterns of relating to yourself and others. Maybe a traumatic event or life history keeps you frozen in time and in distress. Perhaps your sense of wonder and awe at being alive is diminished and you long for meaning. Maybe you find that you're living through a maze of symptoms like depression and anxiety. You wonder if it's safe enough to talk to someone and be heard in a non-judgmental way.

I enjoy working with children and adults.I have twenty years of experience in the mental health field. I know it's difficult to make that decision to ask for help.My job is to put you at ease, really listen, and help you find a way to move forward, whether that means resolving an issue from the past; changing a behavior or creating a plan for the future. My goal is to improve your quality of life. What's most important is the what happens outside therapy. The best client is ready and willing to make that change.

Not accepting new clients
Currently, I am not accepting new clients & referring to therapists, at the same practice, Anna Drage and Sydney Cheek. Are you tired of being a prisoner to your own negative thoughts, trying everything to ease your sadness and frustration, but feel like you are going in circles? Maybe you've tried self-help books, talking to friends, staying busy, but to no avail. Have you gone through something recently or in the past, which was traumatic, where you felt keeping to yourself was safest, & doing whatever you could to not get hurt again? Maybe you feel unsure about the world, anxious, unmotivated, and don't know why.

Life changing events bring emotional struggles such as grief, loss and other challenges. Adults may find themselves questioning and asking "Who am I now?" and "Where do I go from here?". Children, preteens and teens may find themselves navigating through new emotions and experiences as they grow and change. The need to explore and understand these new landscapes is critical to making positive and sometimes difficult decisions regarding self expression and life choices. Overall goals often included finding relief of inner conflict, developing confidence and experiencing growth.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
