I have experience with various concerns, including depression, anxiety, OCD, life transitions, self-confidence, and substance use.
No two people are alike and therefore everyone deserves treatment that is tailored to their individual circumstances and needs. After having had the opportunity to work with many different individuals in a variety of settings, my experience has shaped my approach to be person-centered and individualized. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults from various backgrounds, regardless of their gender, sexuality, or beliefs. I strive to provide you with a non-judgmental and supportive environment, to allow you to grow and take steps towards reaching your goals.

I provide guidance for clients with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, OCD, depression, traumatic events, challenging childhoods, and feeling overwhelmed, stressed and “not good enough,” but most importantly, I enjoy helping folks navigate the challenges of being human in a world that is constantly telling us how we’re “supposed” to be. I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental and down-to-earth environment for clients to begin sharing their life experiences, expanding self-awareness, shifting perspectives, and letting go of unworkable patterns in order to move in a more meaningful and intentional direction.

If you’re finding yourself going through anxiety, depression, OCD or addiction/substance use, then you’ve arrived at the right place. Regardless of the severity of experiencing such symptoms including excessive worry, feeling stuck, obsessing, ruminating, deep discomfort, wondering what others are thinking of you, fear, lack of motivation, not feeling in control, anger, and the list goes on, it won’t help keeping it in. Talking about them in a safe and welcoming space can help considerably.

I see pre-teens, teens, and young adults (ages 10-30) who struggle with anxiety, OCD, and relational trauma.
Many of my clients come to me feeling like anxious thoughts have them feeling run down, burned out, and out of control. Some clients have strained relationships with their primary caregiver(s) and struggle with feeling a sense of purpose and value in their lives. Others are coming to see me because their parent or caregiver is searching for ways to support them through the challenges of adolescence, and they stumbled upon my page.

Life can be challenging at times and wrought with frustrations, sadness or anxieties. However, with therapy, those challenges don't have to be insurmountable. I believe therapy is about guiding you toward an emotionally healthy path in order to create the life you desire. The fact that you are searching for a therapist who feels like a "good fit" for you or your family, is an important first step (and a very courageous one). My goal is to support you along your journey by providing a non-judgmental and respectful atmosphere, as we jointly work toward you finding personal contentment.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
