My passion is working with adults and adolescents with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief, life transition, relational struggles, and substance abuse.
Book with me now by clicking on my website. Life challenges occur at different stages in our lives and sometimes they are overwhelming to navigate on our own. We can often get lost in feelings of sadness, anger, anxiety, and confusion which cultivates hopelessness as we allow these thoughts and emotions to take over our lives.

My life experiences and personal testimony is evidence of God's ability to restore and redeem. My journey in becoming a counselor has given me an understanding for the need to see others through God's perspective, a holistic view in providing care and compassion, while ministering to individuals using various resources and methods. No one person or situation is alike. The uniqueness to your story requires personal insight while allowing the Holy Spirit to heal the inner person. I use biblically based teaching intertwined with psychological tools, to minister to the entire person: mind, body, spirit, soul.

Throughout my life I have become so aware of the importance of having someone who will listen, someone who will offer compassion without judgment. Throughout my career I have strived to place that understanding in focus as I worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and the lifelong pains of trauma.

I believe that you bring wisdom to the places of disorientation in your life. As a spiritually-integrated psychotherapist, my role is to help you nurture the conditions where you can reconnect with this wisdom. The primary condition for this reconnection is an authentic relationship with another person. At its best, therapy can help deepen self-awareness, awaken self-compassion, and broaden your capacity for meaningful relationships. My practice resonates for contemplative persons seeking an active partner in the work of reconnection and re-creation.

My ideal client is someone who is ready for new results. I love helping people create what is really important for their life, and I am committed to being someone who can push them to have it. The most successful couples I work with have struggled with infidelity, considered divorce, or lost the fireworks in their marriage. The most successful individuals I work with have struggled with anxiety, addiction, intimacy issues, death/loss, or finding a purpose. All of my clients who succeed are open to exploring new ideas and hungry for change. Our conversations are action-oriented and results driven. Most of our sessions are fun.

I consider it my personal mission to reduce the divorce rate in the United States, 1 couple at a time. But preventing divorce will only be succesful if, in place of unfulfilling or chronically dysfunctional marriages, couples develop truly thriving marriages & deeply fulfilling relationships. Even in the most hopeless-seeming cases, couples can heal the damage from the past and move forward in a healthier way. Not all marriages can be saved, but when couples do the work to heal the past, their future can be happier, no matter what the outcome for the relationship.

Everyone has times in their life that they need to talk to someone. Throughout my career, I have worked with a broad range of people-children, individuals, and couples. I understand what it is like to be in search of answers. I recognize that anxiety and stress impact families as well as individuals. My life experiences have taught me to look at each client as an individual with their own needs and strengths. I believe that therapy can help us find specific solutions to our problems- whether those struggles are internal, external, personal, or relationally oriented.

I can provide you with a laid back space to unwind your mind. We can sit in my office or go outside, the choice is always yours. Life is tough…but it doesn’t have to be navigated alone. Laugh, cuss, cry…I'm here for it all. I want to hear your story. I want to help however I can.

It is important to feel accepted in the therapy space and have faith that your therapist "gets you" and is ready to bear witness to whatever need you bring to each session. I am truly grateful to get to witness this with my client and join them in their growth process." Amy enjoys working with individuals, couples, children and adolescents.

Be prepared to do the hard work of examining your relationship, taking ownership of things that need to change, and delve into a process that may be difficult. Life can be hard and overwhelming. Do you need help in processing what you have experienced and in developing the skills to help you move forward in your life? I believe connection plays an important role in the healing process. Connection to self and others can be created through the therapeutic relationship and experiencing someone who listens intently, without judgment, offering a reflection of your unexpressed wants and needs. I enjoy working with people who have an interest in their own personal growth, taking a journey, and trying something new.

I use a relational and trauma-informed approach to therapy.
I’m the right fit for you if you are looking for someone to be authentic and honest with you. Life has a way of giving us more than we feel we can handle sometimes, individually, in our relationships or as a family. It takes bravery to step outside of the patterns that we are stuck in and do something different. Experiences, trauma, anxiety, depression, you name it, can throw barriers our way to feel like it's impossible to thrive. I am here to tell you it is possible to live a secure, confident and productive life.

I believe we all have behaviors, vices and patterns that get in the way of living in a way that is rich in meaning and purpose. I care deeply about helping people explore their patterns of getting their needs met, from a place of non-judgement and compassion. I integrate relational neuroscience with an understanding of how substances and painful experiences intersect leading to feeling stuck, alone and exacerbate suffering.

Life can be overwhelming sometimes. Relational concerns, unexpected challenges, new or old traumas, and life transitions can all lead to mental health needs. Often we default to pushing through or feeling like we should be able to tackle these things alone, but nothing could be further from the truth. With support from a knowledgable and caring professional who uses evidence-based approaches, you can start the work of feeling like yourself again, or perhaps feeling better than you've ever felt before.

I am EMDR, IFS and Hakomi trained and have had numerous trainings and experience including: Relational Life Therapy Levels 1 & 2, Interpersonal Neurobiology with Sarah Peyton/Bonnie Badenoch, Radical Aliveness (Core Energetics), many Vipassana/Shambhala/Zen Meditation/Nonduality retreats, 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, and Non-Violent Communication.
I specialize in EMDR (processes traumatic memories/core beliefs), Internal Family Systems Therapy (systems of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self), and Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy (emotions/sensations in the body in the present moment). I also use a variety of other forms of psychotherapy including Hakomi, Contemplative, Person-Centered (Rogerian), Existential, Relational Life Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I provide a safe, nonjudgemental space for you to turn toward your experience. A whole body-mind approach has the ability to transform, much more than talk therapy alone.

Are you feeling alone, anxious or depressed? Unsatisfied with your career, have chronic pain or illness? Relationship stress, extended family issues? My clients tell me I'm warm, easy to talk to, and down to earth. I use a variety of treatment approaches: psychodynamic and relational, combined with CBT, EFT, and EMDR. EMDR can help almost any problem resolve more quickly because it allows the brain to make changes on a deeper level than just talking. We still talk plenty though, before, during and after EMDR. My clients find telehealth to be helpful and convenient. I see regular clients occasionally at my home office.

Our teens, twenties & thirties are transitional years of growth, clarity, & exploration. My work focuses on empowering motivated college aged & young adult women as they identify who they are, what is important to them, and how to live a life where they feel fulfilled, connected, and energized. These formative years can feel equally scary and exciting, especially when you throw in some stress & anxiety, relational challenges, and/or eating disorders & body image distress. The great news though, is that you don't have to figure it out alone! I also have a personal passion for supporting equestrians with their mental health needs.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
