People are complex and sometimes need help sorting through difficulties. Do you find yourself stuck in a pattern--a relationship malfunction or an unhealthy life-style--which you have tried to change, and cannot? The key to unlocking the process of change is to develop awareness of the underlying meanings behind these patterns, the "the how and why" of the patterns. When you compassionately understand how your implicit beliefs inform your actions and experience, you can help your system heal. All parts of your system need conscious connection with you, It is designed to heal. My role is to facilitate that natural process.

Throughout my life I have become so aware of the importance of having someone who will listen, someone who will offer compassion without judgment. Throughout my career I have strived to place that understanding in focus as I worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and the lifelong pains of trauma.

We each have the wisdom within ourselves to guide us on our life journey. However, we often forget to listen when life around us is loud, confusing or perplexing. Additionally, childhood trauma or old baggage interferes with our listening ability. These distractions prevent us from hearing our own inner wisdom. I am a sojourner with my clients as I help them learn to listen to their own internal wisdom. Together, we work to discover inner healing, peace and life balance in their lives.

Perhaps you’ve been keeping your head above water in your day-to-day life, but find yourself worrying a lot or feeling stuck in a “funk." Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for long enough, and are finally ready to talk through it in a supportive space. Or maybe you simply want to feel heard and understood as you navigate a tough transition in your life; you just need someone to be there with you while you do it. While anxiety or trauma may have you feeling depleted and discouraged, I believe that counseling can help you find the most authentic and resilient version of yourself through these experiences.

I also provide an integrative form of psychotherapy.
How can I help you? At face value, it's a simple question. However, it's one that can have profound meaning when you are experiencing hardship and confusion in your life. It offers the opportunity for you to enter into a therapeutic working relationship. One that provides the professional guidance and support needed to resolve the issues that are contributing to the problems at hand. It also provides you the opportunity to develop a deeper sensitivity, understanding, and acceptance of your true self. It's the first step forward, towards a change for the better and a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

No previous artistic skill necessary! I lead with a creativity-focused, gentle and firm integrative approach to therapy.
I am specifically inclined to work with folks who are curious about using the creative process to heal, who are LGBTQ+, who are interested in exploring new ways to find or relocate their intuitive voice to reconstruct and tell their story, and who are in recovery from substance use, imposter syndrome, or wounded childhoods.Compiling words together to form accurate depictions of personal narratives attached to life experiences can feel extremely daunting in talk therapy alone. With the invitation of artmaking, movement, metaphor, sound and play, exploring creativity can provide non-threatening means to access empowerment and healing.

As an integrative practitioner, I use essential oils, EFT/tapping, & traditional psychotherapy to clarify your concerns and goals, & develop individualized strategies relevant to your life.
Are you concerned about postpartum depression now that you are expecting a baby? Does the thought of childbirth spark anxiety and terror as your pregnancy due date approaches? Or perhaps you and your loved one have experienced infertility or a traumatic birth, and these events have been re-playing in your mind over and over. Although it can be exciting, becoming a parent can also include feelings of fear, doubt, and uncertainty. You are not alone. At Mecklenburg Wellness, we nurture the whole person through honoring the mind, body, and spirit through healing and renewal.

I’m trained in the treatment of Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders and approach my work through an integrative lens of care; including the systems you live & work within (family, work, social, etc), beliefs/values, and degree of readiness.
I specialize in perinatal and women's mental health counseling, holistic wellness, and embodiment coaching. The journey into motherhood is a period of profound change felt across many facets of daily life. It can also bring both new and old traumas into the forefront of your psyche. It is common to feel overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or as if you are 'surviving' more than 'thriving' in your every day. Wherever you are at in your life and whatever your 'work' may be, I would like to help you move toward connection, embodiment, and empowerment while finding your peace and contentment in the normative chaos of the every day.

Our clinician-founded and operated recovery center offers a mindfulness-based, comprehensive, evidence based, and integrative approach to recovery. We give you the individual attention you deserve; you are truly seen and heard on an individual level. When it comes to addiction treatment we strongly believe in the value of quality over quantity. Therefore we have intentionally created our program to be a small, client focused program treating only 16 individuals at a time. We offer Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient levels of care.

I have an integrative approach to the therapeutic process.
My purpose, my passion, and my plan is to serve marginalized communities in addressing and dismantling the long-term impacts of systemic racism and oppression. As a therapist and servant leader, I find fulfillment in working with individuals to navigate complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. As a society, we are struggling to cope with the uncertainty of tomorrow. Together, we can understand and explore the benefits in learning to operate from our value systems and not our circumstances.

As a psychologist, I work collaboratively with individuals ages 18+ to help them explore what has led to current life difficulties and to work toward the changes they desire. I am a generalist in that I work with many different presenting issues from relationship difficulties to anxiety and depression. However, I have developed particular interest in working with trauma, adult survivors of childhood abuse, cancer issues, spiritual concerns, and with people with intuitive and empathic gifts. I take an integrative approach to my work drawing heavily on interpersonal, psychodynamic, and mindfulness -based cognitive therapy models.

I believe we all have the potential to grow through challenges. Rather than living in distress, we can find ways to ease through the difficulties of life. Through my work with cancer patients, I developed a therapeutic framework based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients with various issues move from distress toward peace. In addition, I understand that one size does not fit all, so I use an integrative approach that draws from several disciplines.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
