Have you ever made a choice and immediately asked yourself: "Why in the world did I do that?" Imagine if you had talked with someone you trusted before you made that choice. What a difference some compassion and understanding can make. Lighten your burden with someone to walk with you through your difficult life choices. Whether you're wrestling with a work-related challenge or a situation in your intimate relationship, I can offer you a safe space, a ready ear, and help with the choices you're trying to make. Feel heard, understood, and confident in your decisions. That's what therapy offers.

Wondering what is next? How you got where you are? Who you are? Afraid you've missed opportunities or what you hoped for is passing by? I work with people looking for authenticity and fulfillment, offering a chance to question openly and explore who you are and what you really love. Understanding the inevitability of change and how to navigate through sometimes unthinkable circumstances can feel overwhelming. I love working together with clients to help them understand and manage these deep emotions--and to realize that they do have the courage to face what is ahead and the ability to manage their own lives.

September, 2024: I have limited openings for new patients. You are welcome to contact me and I will respond about scheduling a consultation as I am able and will discuss your care needs and therapy goals. I have dedicated my 20 year long career to the premise that we must know what is possible and have capacity to do it before we can be free to choose. During my academic studies in Psychology, Philosophy, Religion, and Social Work I was introduced to the intersections of Queer and Gender theories and became ignited with the framework of knowledge, power, control, and paths to liberation, all of which continue to inform my practice.

Hi Thanks for taking a look at my profile- Reach out if it seems we might be able to work together in a way that would be helpful to you...I'm working only via telehealth which reduces your commute time. My clients tend to be working on being awake and aware of and attuned to and stressed by the complexity of our culture today. I work with issues of alternative sexuality, gender dysphoria, relationships in all forms including relationships that are kink friendly and/or poly. I come from an eclectic training background but use RLT and IFS more often than other modalities.

Struggling with self-criticism, a life out-of-balance, or the past taking up too much of your present can feel lonely. Often the coping strategies that helped us survive can develop into problems themselves and figuring out the best way forward can feel overwhelming. I am honored to work alongside individuals as they discover their inner strengths and develop new, effective strategies to experience and navigate life. I work to foster self-compassion and self-worth in my practice. I really enjoy working with other therapists.

In sessions, I use person-centered therapy, which focuses on empathy and respect, and integrate a feminist theory lens.
Feel like you need to earn your worth, like being anything less than perfect isn't okay? Maybe you're living with an eating disorder that leaves you worrying about or compensating for what you put into your body and trying to control it's shape and size. Do you struggle with self-worth or figuring out and feeling okay with being who you really are? Maybe you've been through trauma or abuse that has left you searching for ways to cope.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
