I believe in the healing power of relationships. Humans have a biological need to find safety through connection with others. Disconnection in relationships may leave you feeling hopeless. Together, we will look at your relationship to self and how this impacts navigating relationships with others. If you have difficulty having a healthy relationship to your body and food, I am also pursuing a certification in intuitive eating principles and integrate these into my practice with clients as needed.

The chance to be heard and seen with warmth and compassion is what I strive to provide in my therapy sessions. We’ll work together at a pace that you are comfortable with in a collaborative conversation that validates your life experiences. It may take some time to build trust but my hope is that you can speak unfiltered about whatever life circumstances have brought you to therapy.

Do you ever find yourself saying "It is not supposed to be this way"? At times we have all felt lost in life, or found ourselves in a place we do not wish to be. Whether it be at the hands of trauma, loss of self-esteem, familial discord, or failed relationships, sometimes we all need some guidance getting back to our best version of ourselves.

Often, people experience stress and anxiety if they believe they do not live up to others' expectations. It can feel extremely isolating if you think you are outside of the "normal". I believe that "normal" is subjective, and that there is no standard "normal". I enjoy working with clients who are wanting to embrace the parts of themselves that they've been conditioned to keep private. I see strength in vulnerability. I think there is so much to be said for a person who is able to acknowledge the pain that they've been through. Without doing so, it can be difficult to learn, heal, and grow.

I love a good puzzle, and I specialize in clients with complex presentations that need a unique blend of treatment techniques. I am an ideal fit for those who feel like they are stuck and have yet to find the help they are looking for. I take a transdiagnostic approach, meaning that I focus more on the pattern of symptoms than on one specific diagnosis. I see a wide range of presenting problems (including personality, mood, and anxiety disorders) and work to understand how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together and how to best treat them. I help my clients build a life worth living by investing in all the parts of them.

My experience with clients include those who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, postpartum, and life challenges. As a therapist, I will work to help give you, the client, the tools needed to meet these goals. As one takes the step to come to therapy, it is important to work together to focus on what concerns they may have, where they would like to be, and how to get there. Through talk therapy, we work through different techniques and challenges to find what works best for you. Everyone is different - including clients. What works best for you is the direction we go in.

A person's natural tendency is to gravitate toward health and wholeness. Sometimes when trying to move toward goals and the most authentic expression of self, we get stuck by internal or external barriers. I enjoy working with clients who are willing to step into vulnerability even when it's scary and who are open to exploring creative approaches to healing. With curiosity, you can discover meaning within emotional pain and grow beyond limits you might have internalized.

There is an old saying: “The more you run from something, the more you run into it.” That is a scenario that can play out time and again for persons struggling with mental health issues. And avoidance is tempting. But the key to experiencing less pain and to living life with more enjoyment is in effectively confronting mental health challenges. This is where an ally is required—an ally trained in helping you find strengths within yourself and in aiding you in developing coping skills.
