Accepting new clients! My primary therapeutic approach is Person-Centered, which is based on the notion that clients have a capacity for self-awareness. I believe that clients are capable of healing themselves, can create their own self-growth, & are their own change agents. I consider counseling to be a collaborative process with both the counselor and client. I align with taking an integrative approach because I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. In addition to person-centered, I utilize techniques from CBT. Every client has a different narrative and, therefore, should have a unique approach to each scenario.

Hello there! Does life constantly point you in various directions and you are frequently uncertain of which way to go? Does everyone including yourself expect you to be clear and strong? Is always the appearance of having everything in the right place and without fail essential to your position in life? As healthcare professionals, we carry a specific set of issues secondary to the not so good things that have happened to us. It’s ok that these issues manifest themselves in trauma, moodiness, emotional turmoil and the inability to create stable relationships free of relentless conflict. No worries though, I've got you!

Since 1992, I have had the honor of accompanying countless individuals in their journey towards living more authentic and satisfying lives. I am convinced that everyone possesses the ability to live their life to its fullest potential. As your counselor, my role is to help awaken you to this dormant power within. I believe that we all function based on the beliefs instilled in us at an early age and are reinforced in various ways throughout our lives. It is when we begin to challenge these "truths" that we experience a great awakening and discover our true self.

In addition to traditional therapy, the Whole Journey offers integrative services such as Walk & Talk therapy.
Clients of mine experience a warm, open, and friendly relationship. Each person is unique with strengths that we can build on. Whether you have lost yourself, never really knew who you were, or are dealing with a sudden life change, we can learn ways to do more than just survive the "speed bumps" of life. No issue is too small or heavy to address. I hope that my clients refuse to settle for less than a whole life. Making life changes often requires patience, commitment to yourself, and action. Together, we can tackle the wounds of yesterday and the fears of tomorrow.

An integrative approach including tools and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Solution-Focused Theory, and several other modalities that offer evidenced-based strategies, assist in equipping clients with the means to meet their objectives, while allowing them to see themselves and the influences in their lives in a more helpful, healthy way.
Passion and empathy combine to allow me to help many incredible people affirm their strengths and overcome obstacles. Developing a genuine rapport with the clients served is also essential to their success. A firm believer that we are all capable of amazing feats, I feel strongly that, at times, we just need help to gain clarity. Along with educational and practical experience, the realization that each client has an individual perspective and distinct set of circumstances enables the facilitation of many concerns ranging from everyday life stressors, to depression, anxiety, and many other mental health and behavioral concerns.

You feel alone and wonder why you have difficulty connecting with others. How you think about your challenges, self, and others has a direct impact on how well you are coping and healing.

I am EMDR trained, and I have an integrative approach to psychotherapy, as no two people are alike.
"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars" (Khalil Gibran). While suffering is part of life, and moving on always a possibility, figuring out how to reorganize the pieces of our puzzle after trauma has occurred can be a daunting task. Too often, we allow our past experiences and our scars to define who we are, and we get stuck in a dark place, incapable of taking that first step. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to walk that path with you.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
