I integrate these modalities with consideration to somatic experiences and attachment styles.
I provide services to individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and PTSD. I acknowledge each person's needs and am able to modify approaches to assist them in meeting their goals. These goals can be modest in approach from the beginning and once someone is ready, we can dig in deeper to the healing process or if someone prefers, we can take an assertive and swift approach to addressing goals. Treatment may vary as I am eclectic in approach. My clients will have the opportunity to work with therapy animals, have nature based experiences, integrate art or relax indoors.

Our sessions are more than just talking but also incorporating your mind & body to encourage deep healing and feel re-connected to yourself with somatic and talk therapy.
Often our hurtful experiences are out of our control. You didn’t choose to live with pain & society makes it hard to heal. You are tired of feeling alone and misunderstood. The reality is our experiences and memories can shape our beliefs and worldviews, creating guilt, anxiety, shame, anger, and isolation. Living with chronic pain, illness, trauma, anxiety, and grief – does impact us. Even if you don’t feel like it at this very moment, there is part of you that knows they deserve something more, whether it’s self-compassion, healthy connections, pleasure, joy, or the chance to move from surviving to thriving. Let's get curious.

I blend somatic and cognitive approaches using my training in NARM, attachment theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Brainspotting to help you have more ease in your body and in your life.
Like you, my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, afraid, and stuck. You may feel frustrated that you have already had therapy and done a lot of work, yet find yourself in the same patterns that you want to move beyond. You may feel unfulfilled in your relationships and wonder if things can get better. You might even notice a pattern or theme in your relationships that you need to make sense of. You may struggle with a harsh inner critic and have a difficult time building a positive relationship with yourself. You might feel hopeless because you have felt this way for a long time with little relief.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
