A person coming to see me may be experiencing a significant life change such as a separation or divorce, a move, a career change, the deployment of their significant other, family problems, issues involving their child's behaviors or legal trouble, or problems in relationships with their spouse or partner. Others may seek psychotherapy to help themselves grow, deal with anger, or overcome patterns of behaviors or ways of being with others that don't work any more. Some people seek psychotherapy because someone close to them insisted they call me. I enjoy working with all of these presenting concerns.

Candice finds joy working with all levels of trauma including abuse & grief; anxiety; anger; depression, adolescent behavioral issues; severe mental illness including personality disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and the sexual offender population.
Sometimes this world is not the easiest place to live as we do not have control over every circumstance. We do, however, have control over how we respond to life situations we encounter. As humans, controlling our behaviors, our thoughts, our feelings can be a struggle at times. Therapy is a safe place to process, to learn, to grow so that we can react more effectively to life circumstances and to gain more authority over our lives. Each person and situation is unique. Candice approaches each individual/couple/family from a non-judgmental perspective provided with empathy, challenge, and guidance.

I have experience in a variety of issues such as, anxiety, depression, stress, relationships and family issues, anger management, self-esteem, trauma, children issues, and more.
No matter our age, race, socioeconomic group, educational level, sexuality, spiritual affiliation (or non-affiliation), or cultural backgrounds we all face the inevitable challenges of life, none of us are exempt from this. Most times we are able to navigate victoriously through these experiences, but sometimes our challenges can leave us so overwhelmed that we have difficulty understanding our situations and coping with our circumstances which makes it very difficult to find a way to overcome them. Ultimately we all want to "live our best life" and sometimes we may need to reach for a trusting hand to help us manifest it.

I have over five years experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, anger management, problematic behaviors, stress management etc.
Do any of these sound familiar: "it will always be this way" "you will never heal" "you are wrong/broken/damaged/not good enough"? So often we believe the lies we've heard, which leaves us feeling like our pain and brokenness define us. We can easily feel "stuck" in parts of our story; as though we are unable to move forward. My work focuses on processing and challenging the negative thoughts that have become the lens through which we view ourselves and the world around us, along with developing healthy new patterns for living.

I have a long history in working with people who struggle with a wide range of symptoms, to include depression, anxiety, isolating behaviors, anger issues, paranoia, fear, hallucinations, social anxiety.
There are times in everyone's life when navigating day-to-day struggles and problems seem more than we can do on our own. Sometimes, we just need someone to talk to who will listen, not judge, and help us to find our way again.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
