Thank you for making the uncomfortable step to seek professional support. I am here to help you navigate and create a life that is balanced and authentic.

Somewhere along the way you started feeling like a zombie. You are physically and emotionally exhausted. You're feeling burned out, overwhelmed, disconnected and on edge. Hopelessness is sinking in or has already sunken in. You're calling out to work or skipping classes. You are terrified that you can't handle life's demands or the needs of those who count on you. Your family and relationships are suffering. The words "self-care" elicits both a laugh and a sinking feeling in your stomach, but also, you know that at some point something has to give. You are tired of feeling guilty for having your own needs. It is time.

Waitlist for new clients
When describing my work as a therapist, I often say that therapy is the art of having awkward conversations. The things that come up during therapy sessions aren’t often broached around the dinner table or at social gatherings, so talking about them can feel overwhelmingly weird. No one wakes up in the morning and says, "Hmm. You know what I'd like to do today? Spend an hour talking to a stranger and tell them all my deep, dark secrets." Sometimes, though, life circumstances, interpersonal difficulties, and emotional troubles make these conversations necessary. This is where I come in.

I’m grateful you’re here. I commend you for taking the first step toward building a better relationship with yourself and deepening your self-awareness. Therapy is a wonderful gift to give to yourself. My ideal client is anyone at a crossroads in their life who is in need of a safe harbor. No struggle is too big or small, or layered or strange. I especially love working with neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relational concerns, and the queer community. I am person-centered at my core and approach therapy from a feminist lens. I also like to implement aspects of mindfulness with my clients.

“The thing that is really hard, and really amazing is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” –A. Quindlen. Taking care of others, putting their needs first is exhausting. Fear of failure keeps you from chasing your dreams. You feel stuck. You hope to heal from the past, becoming empowered to create a more fulfilling life. “You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don't have something better.” -C. JoyBell C.

My approach to counseling is based on the Person-Centered theory. This means that my goal as a counselor is to support the process of self-discovery and the power that exists within each person. I will listen and attempt to create a safe place in which he/she or they feel(s) comfortable to share their story without judgement.

Whether this is your first time looking for a therapist or a "last ditch effort" to get help, I believe I can support you. When you are working with me, and yes, therapy is work, it is my hope that you will feel warmth, genuineness, and judgment-free compassion from me. Just the concept of finally feeling heard can be quite powerful in itself. I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches but I do not believe in a cookie-cutter approach to clients, and will tailor my interventions to your needs. While techniques and interventions are important, the rapport and relationship between therapist and client is what is most powerful.

You know how to make it happen – you work hard, you show up for the people you care about, and you do your best to never let anyone down. On the surface, it seems like your life is going great. On the inside, you squirm with fears that you're not doing enough, not good enough, and that it's only a matter of time before everyone else sees it too. You feel disconnected, exhausted, overwhelmed, and anxious. You want to be authentic and present with those in your life but you struggle to turn off the anxiety and tune into your relationships.

Imagine life is like a journey completely in your control but you feel stuck. Choices you make dictate life’s obstacles and they can be tricky. Life’s journey comes with no instruction pamphlet or ready-made companions. A path unfolds and you decide what to do and who to trust along the way. As you journey you begin to see things you want, potential companions, places you want to explore, and tools you can use to make travels simpler. There are so many choices to make with no time to stop and contemplate the best decision; you have to keep going by making choices every day, about everything. Decisions and deadlines do not wait.

Overall, I consider therapy to be a beginning point for personal change. I have a passion for working with individuals struggling to cope with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. I also have a broad background working with trauma, anxiety, and relationship dynamics in school-based, college mental health, and outpatient settings. I feel honored to assist patients in understanding and transitioning through the barriers they experience in their lives and walk alongside them through moments of pain, joy, self-awareness, and healing.

It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship is a major part of the healing process. Therefore, I seek to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to grow and flourish. I feel my role is to be somewhat of a guide to walk with my clients on their healing journey. The therapeutic process will always be trauma informed. It is my belief that I do not have all the answers, but I can help the client find the answers in themselves.
